well, had another romp with the SAAW, i swear, the satisfaction of knowing your giving those flyboys in the gunships a nice fat piece of humility is more than enough to get me to use this gun.
damn flyboys think they own this ****, well, lets see what mr Brood can do about that...
since this and that other post were talking about it, i decided to dust off my saaw and actually use it again.
made it to 85th in the world today! ordinarily... i would say that's an awesome feat. BUT, i play so little titan and so little with the saaw, its kinda sad i could crack the top 100.
yeah, only 7.3% of my total playing time is with it. anywho, its nice to see others are starting to use it. usually i'm the only one in servers who does!
I love the SAAW as well, especially on the 24 suez servers. After a round of getting raped by gunships, people going 35/4 or better it was time to take out the SAAW.. set up shop near armor travel routes, wait for those ****ers to engage and let em tubed fly. Pretty satisfying when people curse at and try to votekick you for "camping" with the saaw when im nowhere near to their mainbase. :)
I should probably do it some more, let those cocky flyboys eat dirt for a bit.
hehe, i've killed only 2 infantry with the thing. once was close range, the other the my most prized shot. a medium distance lob as they were shooting at me about about to kill me =)
you can guess where the lob will go, but each rocket takes a different path. almost impossible to guestimate, you more so have to get lucky. which i was in my two kills with it against people.
as an avid saaw user, the trick is to get low and let trees/hills block the lock.
of course, being low puts you very vulnerable to emp deaths.
so, ya pretty much have to know what's locking on to you. if its a saaw/walker, go low. if its a stationary aa gun, go high. that's how i do it.
also, if the gunship goes out of visual sight (like flying away at top speed) chances are that the rockets will miss. i've been doing nothing but saaw hunting the past 3 days and am really starting to learn that with certain variables, its not even worth wasting your rockets shooting at something with a low probability of hitting given their position/speed/heading etc.
This was my first weapon unlock as well and at first I was horribly disappointed with it I could not hit a thing. Then I turned off the automatic reload on that character and it made a huge difference for me. Although I have gotten myself killed by not reloading a few times since then it made it allot easier to track the targets when you break out of zoom mode to reload after you fire.
It's on the first screen in the control settings I believe. Just uncheck it and from then on just hit R to reload. Once you toggle it it changes all of your guns though not just your SAAW.
you know how occasionally you reload a weapon without the reload annimation? i thought that's what you were talking about. i prefer having auto-reload. thanks for the help though pepe.
