    SAAW, Simply awesome

I went out to finally get my Silver Engineers Badge (500 points - w00t!) but I find getting 20 kills real hard on these GameArena Servers in Australia. Everyone is just so damn good and the Titan rounds finish real fast.

Anyway, I picked up the SAAW as a field Upgrade and played with it for 4-5 rounds. Simply AWESOME! Once you get the hang of the "Double-tap Launch, Hold and Track" technique its easy to take down the fast jet/heli things. The transports require 3 at least.

One couple of uber-jet fighters (one from [DIE] and another chap who I have seen before and know was shat hot) were owning the skies on one map until I setup shop with the SAAW and knocked them down 10 times in about 15 minutes, so much so that they eventually snuck past my radar and landed right next to me (me firing the SAAW at point-blank range - fat chance), jumped out and hosed me with a Voss. :yay:

    AWESOME fun...

I love the SAAW on titan maps. Almost no one takes it so the pilots at first are really like: Oh I own everything ! Until the missiles start coming in!

Explain the double tap technique though. because I find it very hard to take people down with the saaw

The SAAW was my first weapon unlock and up until 2 days ago, i had only 10 kills with it. I decided to pick it up just to do something different, and to my surprise, i was actually getting kills with it :)

So far i got like 40 kills with it. On 2 ocassions i got 11 kills with it. It helped out my KD ratio a bit. It was sweet getting a few combat efficiency pins by just taking down 1 transporter. I still preffer chassing down walkers and tanks with the pilum though

beep beep beep beep beep ... beeeeeeeeeeeeeeep fire both shots

wait till aircraft is close to you. just stand still, 9 out of 10 times they cant see you, when they do You have a good chance of shooting them down and having them drop right at your feet... its the coolest

I am ranked 232 worldwide, woot best weapon ranking for me

Its a long lock on time, but worth the kill.

I'd love it if someone revealed some tips for the SAAW, it's a fun gun to use, but I don't seem to be all that good with it.

Destroy the UAV planes with it for muchos enemy team anger. :)

Well this may be wrong but it works for me.
                        1. Scan the sky with the sight... if you hear a beep, drop the sight so your not locking onto it and track it visually until its on range and you have a realistic chance of hitting it (i.e. not going away from you fast and not below buildings)
                        2. Once you have visual and your ready to fire, bring up your sights (this is when the pilot will know your onto them). If you have been following the vehicle you should be on full lock tone straight away (always works for me).
                        3. Fire both missiles (double-tap) and hold the fire button on the last one (this may not be necessary, but its what I do)
                        4. Most importantly keep tracking the vehicle with the reticle all the way until the missiles hit, remembering that the missiles may hit beyond your visual range but within its range.
It helps if they are moving towards you as this limits their ability to react.

If its a transport they may try various tactics to avoid getting hit. They may go low on the deck to avoid the fire or worse eject before the missile hits.

My tip is get up high with the SAAW then when they go low to avoid what they think is AAA fire from a ground unit you can smack them from above.

Not a bad education from only using the SAAW for a few rounds, but there you go.

Though I agree bigAPE, having the gunship coming at you isn't that much of an advantage, as the missiles don't have that great a turning radius, if the gunship moves past, those missiles won't be able to turn around and catch up.

But the rest you are right :)

For real ? Wow, I could have sworn I saw the rockets turn around and track back on the target if I kept them in the reticle. Must have been blinded by my killing frenzy

There are variables, if the gunship were moving slowly towards you, the chance of the missile catching up is good. Otherwise, the gunship will just outrun it.
