This is a fair point, but bear in mind that many games that're specifically designed for consoles just aren't as fun on the PC, feeling a bit too arcadish and basic when controlled using an ultra-tactile mouse (Lost Planet is an excellent example of this).

Chances are, Bad Company just isn't as fun on the PC and DICE would prefer their next Battlefield game on the format to be one properly designed for it.

Of course, the factor of the console audience by far being the most lucrative is also significant. It'd serve DICE well to tap into it and get Battlefield more well known there, rather than just being seen as a port from the PC like it has been in the past.

I'm sure the next PC Battlefield will be excellent. :)

It will keep going until a new BF i think

Obv some people will leave for other games like Crysis and QW but they looks like they will have crap game play.

Crysis looks like it'll have crap gameplay? Have you been smoking something, or have you just not looked into the game very much? Going off FarCry, and the gameplay videos, chances are it'll be very much fun indeed. But then we're talking about a primarily single-player game here; it's hardly comparable.

Quake Wars does seem very underwhelming from what beta testers have been saying, though. I did call it out long before BF2142 came out; looks like I was mostly right. D:

If anyone here ever played Desert Combat [mod for BF1942], that is what BF2 should have been instead of the crap that is BF2 today.

That said, my vote would go for "BF Whatever" as long as it was Desert Combat on a kick *** engine. Like 1942, it was very balanced.

ET:QW isn’t a Battlefield clone, far from it. It’s Enemy Territory first and foremost and secondary is the Quake theme aspect. The vehicles feel tacked on, just because on paper it sounded good doesn’t make it so, and the problem persists deeper than just sucky handling and poor physics – they just feel out of place and unneeded. The chokepoints are too constraining to allow for much maneuverability for example.

The turret deployment system is slow and awkward, first make sure you’ve spawned in with the right kit because you can’t switch kits after you’ve spawned in, you have to choose your binoculars (which switches you to third person view) then you have to find a large enough area to allow for the deployment, finally you have to choose which one you want to deploy and then make sure it's orientated to the direction you want it to face and if everything you’ve done up to that point was correct you’ll see your deployed turret fall from the sky onto the map about ten seconds or more later.

Want to set a trip mine? pick the mine then right click to place it – that’s where it should end but instead you have to choose your pliers and use them on it till a circle completes on your hud, if the beam can’t project to another wall then you’ll have to start all over, pliers tool again to reverse the small circle in your hud and it’s disarmed and ready for redeployment.

You might be thinking all that sounds cool and very tactical but the rest of the game plays like everyone is jacked up on crack running around at mach speeds.

I predict that the next Battlefield 'sandbox' style game we are all familiar with will next appear as an online subscription-based game.

I also predict that the recent EA announcement regarding Korea will figure heavily in this as that product for that specific market will be a model for an international release of Battlefield Online.
