On a map like CampG, I think I would know whether there are air assets, or hell, infantry on the railings.

(Oh, a walker driver can look above, they can change views.)

if a gunner, or anyone for that matter sees anything like infantry, vehicles or air they should spot before engaging, but that's a whole different thread lol

Now i just wish there was some way to make the ppl to whom this thread is directed to actually read this :/

Theres different forms of this happening, but basically the servers are full of people who think the game is about literally shooting everything that you see.

It's so rewarding when you try to be nice and wait for the FAV to get full before you sneak around and behind the enemy lines with it, and then the gunner you decided to give a ride to starts to shoot at nothing giving away your plans or starts to shoot at the first walker/tank you pass.

I totally agree with this thread. I have a friend who is actually way better at the walker than I am, but whenever he drives and I am gunner I can't stand it because he is so worried about getting RDX'ed that he wont sit the hell still for 2 seconds. There is no point in waiting for a gunner if you aren't going to give them a chance to be effective. Drivers need to learn to use the walker on maps like camp G to slowly advance your position, giving your infantry a wall of cover fire to move forward and capture the flag. Its not about getting in and crazily running all over the place shooting people at random.

Also to all you noob drivers out there (really anyone below Major) DON'T FRIGGIN DRIVE THE WALKER IF YOU AREN'T GOOD AT IT. I can't stand it when some moron who has like 3 total minutes of walker time grabs the thing on Camp G, runs right up the middle ramp, and gets motion mined or RDX'ed, and then we are stuck getting pounded by their walker at the harbor for the next 5 minutes. Yes it is exciting to be in the walker for the first time and it makes you feel like a badass, but for f*ck's sake take an hour in single player mode and practice before you try it in a real game. Hell I am Brig Gen and I still refuse to pilot airships because I am so bad at it. You being in the walker for 20 seconds before you die, no matter how fun it was for you, does not offset the fact that you just screwed the other 31 people on your team.

                    Thats a rather elitist attitude.
As long as they don't directly crash the vehicle, I don't see a reason to exclude beginners from major parts of the game.
                    You weren't born l337 yourself.

And if one walker can screw 31 people then you are not in a place to complain about the incompetence of others

THANKS!!!
No thanks, I would keep walking as most gunners couldnt hit a barn door with a banjo. Live to fight another day!!!!

He didn't say they couldn't use it, he just said to go play in single player for a while and get some practice first. Or go play one of the large conquest maps like Suez where EU starts with three walkers and a bunch of tanks or 64 man Bridge at Remagen where it seems like there is a walker for everyone. That way if they lose the walker it really doesn't hurt the team too much. On Camp G the walker is integral to breaking out of the PAC uncap and if it is lost in the opening minutes becuase someone doesn't know what they are doing it gives the EU time to get their walker up to Harbor. Assuming no FAV's get through to the back, which is very easy to stop, then the PAC ends up pinned into their uncap the entire round.

The Walker is not exactly invincible even with a good driver.
Are you saying that the map is a loss if the EU manages to get three Engineers to spawn at harbour?
Because that will wipe the Walker just as well as a beginner tapdancing on the mines.

I know I usually complain about vehicle whores, but you can always do something about one walker.

I'm really not fussed who takes that Walker as long as they don't bail after a couple of EMP 'nades.

You know you're in for a hard game if you approach the Harbour and there are 2 Walkers waiting for you.

You know what else is easy to hit? A walker that isn't moving! If theres a gunship coming in on me and I'm the pilot walker, standing still isn't going to save anyone in the walker. HOWEVER moving and trying to avoid the gunship might actually help. My advice, practice at shooting your targets while on the move.

I'm sorry, but that doesn't work. You might be able to hit something flying once or twice.. usually a transport.. but you can't hit a gunship or bring down anything if the walker is moving. The movement is just too much to be accurate regardless of mouse sensitivity.
