Someone nicked my APC the other day when I jumped out to finish off a hiding enemy. Fortunately I had RDX'd it just in case it fell to enemy hands!

hey, if the guy jumps into #your# vehicle as you are repairing it, he's getting you repair points, what a star!

I've actually had a number of random AA guys stick around while I repaired. The worst thieves seem to be the guys on foot- I always try and get away from my own guys before repairing. Sucks you have to do that, and it makes life more dangerous. :shakehead:

I also consider this a TK'able offense. I could give a crap about the points. Only once they drive off though, and I've pinged the armor with my subgun. Those guys that swing their turret around, look at you, and drive off- Man, pilum enema. Or I'll grab a tank and hunt them down, if I'm carrying the SAAW.

The frickin' *best* is when your AA guy, especially in a tank, grabs the main gun while you're repairing, then hops back on AA when you're done- Tactically smart, covers you nicely, and a team player- Outstanding! :salute: Doesn't happen that often, though.

I concur, that does get annoying.

Since BF2, my way to prevent thieves is to get off for repairs a bit away from teammates while keeping an eye to the minimap. When I see a blue dot getting too close to me, I hit 'E' key and move away further to continue. Repeat if necessary until it gets fully repaired.

In another case scenario, if someone is in gunner/passenger/aa seat before I get out for repairs I just get out and repair a bit (1-3 seconds) then get in and repeat randomly after few seconds. If he switches to driver seat, I just stop repairing and let him go to die or damage/TK him if FF is ON.

on bf2 i was waiting for a chopper for ages then 2 guys get in instead of me, i didnt know that you could stand on the helipad an hold E at the time, so i gave them some parting c4 on the view window, watched them fly off for a bit them BOOOOM!!!

if im already in the vehicle with the driver/engy, ill just guard us till he gets back in. Battlefield manners FTW!!

I've tried, Ive tried, but I can't just bring myself to do it. Though, like others said, I don't mind shoving a non-lethal Pilum round into them. Then watching one tank round, or Pilum, or Rorsch shot take them out. The best is after you hit them and they start crying "I need repairs." and you stand there with them looking at you. After they get killed you usually get a "WTF! Why didn't you repair me?!"

lol, i do that as well.

That's lame, we're not talking about standing in a base waiting for vehicles all game and tk'ing anyone who gets there first, especially when you obviously wern't ready, we're talking about having the vehicle already on the battlefield and it being stolen...

Plus since you said you were waiting for ages those 2 you tk'd were obviously doing a good job

                      Absolutely.
First you let your team be outnumbered while doing nothing, then you teamkill and destroy the valuable asset you were waiting for.
Thankfully the assets in BF2142 is not the pwn-o-matics of BF2, I rarely see this happen.

But even the practice of repairing far away from kleptomaniac teammates has a serious downside. One quick ambush and the enemy team has both walkers
That wouldn't happen if you trusted your gunner.
From a strategic POV it would actually be better to risk that the gunner steal the vehicle, because that will still keep it active on your side, or at least make it respawn at your base.

But I fully understand making a TK in that case, I think it is one of the few cases of justifiable homicide in BF2142.

I meant I started waiting once it was destroyed, and i was ready to go, they arrived just before it spawned and got in first, I explained how earlier.

I doesn't really matter. You lost the race and then you teamkilled.
There is no queue for vehicles in BF, freshly spawned vehicles are up for grabs.

Thats fine, but its not a common accepted ruleset so you have no right to enforce it upon others.
Most others consider those who just stand around waiting for a vehicle to spawn rather useless, and it is often the same people who try to monopolize the assets.

I often jump in the vehicle while an Eng is repairing to watch his back and make sure it is not falling into the hands of the enemy. Usually the guy repairing is quite surprised as soon as I jump out to give him his seat back.
But is it not only the drivers position that gets stolen while you repair. Sometimes I tend to use the second seat as an Eng so I can jump out and repair during the firefight. Still people are going to grab your seat no matter how much the driver and you ask them to get out...:shakehead:
