A polite note to people who "borrow" a vehicle someone is repairing/using

So I play fairly exclusively as an Engineer. A lot of the time - and in what seems to be an unusual tactic these days - I spend actually defending and holding one of the more desirable silos on a given map.

Obviously given that the Engineer is fairly awful against infantry most of the time, and the fairly dangerous line of work in taking out repeated armour attacks, it's quite nice to have a tank or walker to sit in. I can take out whatever threat I have to, then hop out, repair anything that needs repairing, and get on with it. We hold the silo, the enemy keeps losing the use of their vehicles for a few minutes, it gives us a firm spawnpoint, gunship pilots get tired of being tankshot in the face... everyone on the team is a winner.
So what is distinctly not helpful or cool is when after beating back a fairly intense attack, you see me hopping out and repairing my tank or whatever I happen to be using, then decide to take it for yourself and drive off.
Or when you fly off in the transport leaving 4-5 people sitting on the Titan deck. IT IS NOT YOUR PERSONAL TRANSPORTATION.

This happens constantly and I have a deep personal hatred for anyone who wants to do it. If I am clearly using it and taking the time to repair it, might it not be possible that I'm NOT doing it so you can get in and leave me stuck by myself on foot? Is it not possible all those people you left sitting there might have BEEN USEFUL TO TAKE WITH YOU?

As such I'm declaring it pretty much open season on anyone who does this. It's extremely lame. I lost count of the amount of times in just the last two or three days I saw people e.g. spawn into a transport someone in the squad was using to cap a spawnpoint... then the instant it was capped they flew off leaving whoever the "original owner" was stranded. THINK before you grab a vehicle someone else was clearly still using you selfish morons out there. You people who fly off the Titan with just yourself in the transport also qualify.

Otherwise... I will now demonstrate why perhaps something needed repairs in the first place as I did last night with a single AVR shot.

Hopefully at least one or two people will start thinking a little more about their actions in future. Leaving team members stranded, whether myself or anyone else, is not cool.:shakehead:

That does get on my nerves a lot! Particularly when I've been owning everyone in the walker or the jeeps and then some pillock steals the vehicle when I repair it. Kick votes do nowt also because you need like 80% majority to kick anyone and do you think you'll ever get that?

Nothing you can do about it. Its Battleretardness. Just imagine the criminal to be a 20 year old kid (for political correctness) with a hard one and you will likely just want to get over it and forget about it.

"20 year old kid"??? Suppose that makes me feel better about been in the late 30's though I'd hardly call 20 as kid age.

Yeah, I was just telling you not to bother too much. And if you do bother, try playing on better servers with TP going on.

What I cant undestand is why people beep the horn on any vehicle and spam get in a couple of times and then fly/drive away before you've got time to board

Haha I think they do it just to say "yea i got the vehicle, in your face"! I use the horn as a last reminder to say "HURRY UP AND BOARD" or when I'm in a jeep saying "GET OUT OF THE WAY, MAD MAX CRAZY FAST DRIVER COMING THROUGH"! ;-)

I'll tend to hop into an Engineer's vehicle while he's repairing it, but mainly in the hope that he'll be able to get a repair point off me being in it

Best one I've seen (I'm not an Engineer much)... was driving an APC around capping silos. Some fool spawns in the second seat as I get to a Silo, so I spam "Get out!" a couple times hoping he'll get out and help me cap the silo. He doesn't, so I hop out... and he drives off with the APC... Happens oh so often. People aren't thinking about the team, they're thinking about their points.

I also do this. I then proceed to jump into the second seat and help the engieer.

                        Vehicle thievery is extremely irritating.

Luckily whenever i choose to pilot a vehicle i'm an engineer, and i make sure to give them a parting gift upon their departure.

This is the number one thing that annoys me, so much so that I will teamkill anyone who does it. Its pretty much the only situation where I would intentionally TK.

Its the number one thing that annoys me as well, its amazing the amount of thanks i get for covering engis with the turret while they repair and not driving off, shows how rare that sort of thing must be.

this too, is the one and only time i have and will continue to intentionall tk someone.

i hate being a walker pilot with some random in the number 2 spot. once you've taken damage... and you want to repair yourself... i'm almost too scared to do it in fear that the moment i hop out to repair, the smacktard will jump in the pilot seat and take off.
