yes this is something Im concentrating on now - for no particular reason except personal satisfaction...I play as engie nearly 90% of the time and to increase my kills Ive found camping silos is a good way..Im not realy a vehicle whore and the titan guns r so boring....the way I look at it if IM racking up combat efficiency pins my kd will be better, remember with 10 kills in a row your 10 points is suddenly worth 25!with engie you need to get in close to utilise the smg and I can 1 shot kill most vehicles, crates are a good place to hide behind.. Ive got a sweet sweet spot on suez but hey that would be telling!!!

I've written about this before in a similar thread but here goes: I'm 48 and I can't run-and-gun like the young guys can; reaction-times aren't fast enough; also ping is too high. Then I unlocked the IDS-1 (support-kit). The IDS-1 attached to a tank or APC is a deadly combination. (Also, when I cap a silo I try to leave a sentry-gun; that usually gets me a few more kills per round). Since then my KDR has been steadily rising. Good luck. --Jeff in Houston, TX

Just concentrate on staying alive until you kill at least one person for each time you spawn. Work on the flanks, move carefully and listen. Watch your minimap for red dots.

For other, more specific tips: Never forget that you have a pistol (unless you're engineering). Grenades are good for forcing the enemy to hide while you reload, or for killing them if they don't hide.

Most of it just comes as you get the "feel" of the game. I was under 1.0 for quite awhile, now it's going up just about every round. Thing to remember is, even if you get 80 kills and 2 deaths in a round, you're still dealing with a global number of thousands. So each round isn't going to show a massive improvement, it's the cumulative improvement that you're looking for. :)

although i agree with you this isnt what he asked, he wants to raise his KD ratio meaning he does car about it enough to see it improve.

Basically the best way IMO is to either vehicle whore or go medic as you can always heal yourself. Stay at the back of the pack and wait for the other guy to injure the enemy and fall to him then go for the kill.

                      1.0 - 1.5 = Average / mediocre

                      1.6 - 1.9 = Above average

                      2.0 - 2.5 = Good

                      2.6 - 2.9 = Very good

                      3.0 + = Excellent

I would gauge this by conquest ratings AS INFANTRY ONLY [no vehicle]. Titan has too many variables such as titan guns, etc. that allow you to inflate your KD/R. So make your calculations based upon the end of the round. If you are honest with yourself, you will know where you stand
Thanks for clearing this up to me. :salute:

I too am on the quest for a positive KDR... 2142 was my first online FPS game, so the first 2 months of stats were useless... here's a few things I've learned... before reaching Brig. I was playing for points, and tended to rush in and try to be the hero... NOT good! Now I'm much more laid back and try to look at the whole map... where people tend to congrigate, where would I put that beacon at? (then go look for that annoying enemy beacon in that direction). Finally, use cover when you move! Too much of my time was spent running down the middle of the road trying to get to the next hotspot... now I'm the guy in the shadows killing the poor guy in the street... also put away the knife and pistol, try to AVOID direct head on firefights, flank them instead....

to artificially raise it do everything that has been mentioned, titan guns, commanding, safe vehicle play, excessive apm usage etc

the key to keeping ur k/d up from an infantry point of view is to find a v good squad full of medics who will keep you up when you die and not resorting to using the squad beacons when the sl is usually a safe and covert spawn. try not always to go route one, learn to flank the battle and set yourself up for nice grenades, which can give you an instantaneous 6-1 ratio if you manage to land successive kills on the same revived players

always be medic or within reach of one (the good squad)!

in general tho, you will get better the more you play and as you master your chosen role. by that stage you could always start over and cheek your new soldier with the skills you have earned.

i'd say getting a k/d ratio over 1 is enough to be considered 'holding your own' because you are theoretically doing more damage to them than they are to you, unless you let them revive each other every time.

                            2 more things I forgot....

play on smaller servers <32 the chaos of 64p servers results in a lot of eaths that are out of your control...

don't play for too long... I notice I start to get rusty after 2-3 hours, take breaks!... also, playing intoxicated is not recommended...

Another tip: When I was still somewhat new to BF2142, EU Tank "Artillery" Shots were a great way to get my K/D Ratio up, as I was too far away for anyone to attack. If you're accurate you can easily eliminate baddies near Silos and Flags.

Walkers are a good idea too, if you know how to handle them.
