SAAW works fine, but you have to think about the physics- where's the gunship going, and put the missile on a path so it'll get there without wasting as much time chasing.

So in the scenario you describe, I second the "Walker & SAAW" approach. Pop shields and switch to seat 2 while he's coming in, then bail out and pop 2 SAAW's after him as he passes you. If he circles around, you're reloaded and pop him before he's lined up for a clean shot. Alternatively, you do enough damage on his first pass that he goes looking for easier prey. Tank & SAAW can work too, but isn't as ideal.

Back on topic, the battle walker can clear the skies if used properly. The walker + SAAW combination is tried and true. Two walkers (a la Minsk) can jointly tackle aircraft in short order.

An important goal of mine is to do everything I can to make sure that the enemy does not possess both walkers...

Walker guns absolutely MOW gunships saying that one pesky, semi useless grunt spamming SAAWs in revenge mode can sometimes clear the skies but it wont always be effective

That APC+Pilum thing is kinda stupid, you could easily get soloed from 100 Meters. You wouldn't even get a warning light

Fly high, thats all I can say I consider myself better than 80% of pilots out there, so I normally just take em 1v1. I only use a SAAW when I am playing commander, gives me something to do :p

All I can say is use your other camera views and slap a PDS on your APC. APC's have shields too, and gunships normally dive on you so they're going to be in a perfect line for your EMP and crashing into the ground soon after :p

that what i was going to say. it will piss him off that he will have to wait a min. or two for it to spawn again.

i have been getting MUCH better at being a pilot but i found that if you have a walker and you use the walkers emp things it will basically **** over the gunship cause he will just be sitting there then you can saww the **** out of him. once the emp thing runs off it will still take a little bit for the gunship to get speed.

when you see a walker ALWAYS fly past it unless you know you have a guy using the tv missiles and he knows what he is doing

I can't attest to the skill of the pilots, but I rarely die to a gunship while in an APC. Could be because I'm not a top priority threat, could be that I'm more aware. I also rarely miss on my EMP's :p

I can empathize with the OP about good pilots though; when you can't find anything capable of handling the gunship, they'll just keep the entire field locked down

500 hours of play and I didn't think the tank machinegun did anything to gunships except tell them you are there. How many tank machinegun rounds does it take to take down a gunship? Do APC rounds do damage as well? I have taken down tanks with the tank main gun and the EMP from an APC, but the machine guns never seemed to do anything, what about transports?

The tank machine gun, if it hits every time, will cause the gunship to explode by the time it overheats. The APC's and FAV's main gun does nothing. The transport's machine gun will tear through a gunship as well as a walker's AA gun.

I hate it when im flying low avoiding enemy gunship and WTF?!? i Hit a lamp post or a pipe.

But i once avoided a gunship when i fly thru the bridge on Suez, that guy rammed into a tank wreckage, i was sooo happy when i did the same thing a few seconds later:laugh:

I love when people fly through the bridge as if it is some kind of evasive maneuver. Just fly on top of them.

If you are in a Transport that is manned with 2 gunners and 2 engineers repairing that also are equiped with SAAWs you can own a gunship. Between the missiles and bullets chewing them up they will learn to fear you. Unfortunately this is rare, and requires some coordination. Usually when I am in a tank or apc or on foot and the Gunship see's me, if I can't find cover quickly, I am dead. Gunships are the Queen bee, no doubt about it. But the Transport of Doom can defeat it. With 2 guys repairing you can take a lot of hits and survive. With 2 gunners firing you can take down another Transport or Gunship pretty quickly. If the engi's are not repairing they can use their SAAW's and can shoot 4 missiles pretty quickly. If they stagger them the Gunship has no chance to survive that. It's hard to get 5 guys together with the right roles in the right positions on the transport. BUT, it can be done.:yay:

lol yeah I was playing on Tampa a few nights ago and got EMPd by an APC driver I had obviously underestimated. So humiliating.
