Yeah, but I picked my name 6 years ago when whatever name you picked had no bearing on your in-game name since you could always make personas.

Your soldier name is reliant on the persona's in your EA account I believe, not sure how you make a different persona the Origin one though

Actually, scratch what I said about the personas. I just realized what zh1nt0 was saying. It contradicts what I heard earlier, but I assume this is more up-to-date. So we are stuck with our EA Master ID's as our in-game nicks? That is insanely stupid.

And yeah, the server worked real well with BC2. Im sure it will be smashing with BF3.

You will be able to create in-game personas.

Maybe you will be able to reserve your username in the beta. Sometimes they delete all the names, other times they let you keep them.

Origin was the EA Download manager, now its trying to become a service similar to Steam, but only featuring EA games.

I haven't really been gaming for about a year now. Just a few little rounds here and there.

So forgive me when I sound like a complete idiot and ask, what is Origin?

Also, Origin will automatically load and open, so you don't actually have to load Battlelog through that. You can favorite the website (it was http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/gate/) and just load that through your browser. You log in and it brings up Battlelog, which looks like Facebook. From there you can talk to your friends, see where they are playing, give them "Hooah"s, post provocative messages on their wall, etc. In Battlelog there is a tap for the server browser. The browser was actually better than anyone I've seen in a Battlefield game. Then you can pick your server and click play, and then a box pops up in Battlelog that says "Connecting" and whatever. After a short time, the BF3 window loads in the background and starts loading the map. Once the map is fully loaded, you click "Play" in that little window and it will open the game and you will be at the respawn screen. Alternatively, you can click on the game earlier and watch the map load, or you can select it to automatically open when ready.

Does that mean you log in to Origin and if some of your buddies are on a specific server you can join them that way instead of starting up the game and then look for your m8tes? I like that. That way you can check the status of your favourite server and join if you want. Instead of now where you start up the game just to find your favourite servers 100% full or no players at all.
What I would like next is being able to see a full list of maps in rotation on a specific server.
I personally like the Ols Swedish Gunners server but it is the same 6 maps over and over again. It would be fun to play Isla innocentes once in a while.
