    BF3 Commander position desired?

Since the GameInformer article became public knowledge, there have been over 15,000 views of a thread in the EA UK Forum titled "Commander Yes or No." If you are a fan of the Battlefield series, please take the time to review the "Commander Yes or No" topic and cast YOUR vote.

We are looking forward to reaching the 100,000 view mark. Maybe, we can bark loud enough to really be heard by DICE decision makers.

    No.

If you were a real fan of the Battlefield series you would not try to fit BF3 into the BF2 role but let it be a game that stands on its own with ALL the benefits of ALL the games that made it great.

I just hope the artillery means artillery like in BF2 (on the map and destructible) instead of magical artillery which never has a reload time and is not even on the map...

Edit: Or like artillery in BF42.

Views? What is that supposed to prove? Votes are what counts.

I dont see artillery needing a commander, just include a MLRS or Howitzer as a vehicle

Bring back BF1942 artillery! When you got a team with good spotters it was epic!

I voted yes, it worked on FH2 and PR it can work in BF3, they just have to think this time and add a focus on teamwork. You should be able to use all assets without a commander, but a commander coordinating everything should obviously be a plus. Just the ability to add waypoints, give targets to squad, new and complex orders and some others things. Also the commander shouldn't gain points while doing nothing.

Which no battlefield game has been able to do yet.

On one hand I feel that it could be abused/ neglected, similar to the endless "enemy spotted spam" or the insta-recharge UAV, thus it might be better to have the squad level options (as discussed in Game Informer). On the other hand, I don't feel like DICE did enough to make up for lack of a commander in BC2, the sensor balls and mortar strike were on the worst possible kit to encourage teamwork. Perhaps if there are squad leaders, it could be a slot similar to 2142's drop pod beacon or drones.

Overall, while not a necessity, I would still vote "yes" because a good commander could change the dynamics of a game (admittedly, very rarely).

We've only seen one version of the commander which is the BF2 one. BF2142 is like BF:V, add a few things + balance but nothing major, they didn't touched the Squad and Commander sytem.

If some modders made the commander something good, Dice can too.

                      Re: BF3 Commander position desired?

The commander is the most important position in organized game play. In a pub server he's just a person who supports his team. You get squad leaders who don't listen or are just dumb. You can also get a commander who's a retard.

Either way I think the commander should still be included.

It's really hard to balance games like this because you have two different ways to play. You have servers and communities that encourage teamplay and you have servers where people just play. You can't balance the game for both without ruining it for one.

Problem is the majority of the gaming population are probably people who fall below the average on the iq scale and don't have the ability to work together without LISTENING to someone smarter. This is why the military has ranks and why poptarts have directions. These people tend to play in servers where any type of team play is nonexistent.

Commanders are dicks but im a great one lol

No commander,I rarely listen to some 12 year old stupid squad leader little alone a commander ordering stupid commands trying to send me on suicide missions.

                        Make artillery manually operated ffs

If i see another droid, majic trick from above or remote control pixie in BF3 im going to spit chips,Sometimes i think Dice are immature tards

youve made ur kiddie games now make this for adults pls 18+

When your older you just want to be sneaky and pick your targets but when your younger you just want to run and gun and spray everything.

I posted a few times in the forums on there against commander and I have to say I havent been flamed yet. Im a bit surprised as it seems I am the only one speaking out against it.

I do wish that we could have the commander feature but the sad reality is that it didnt work. . We need the old squad leader/ Squad system back though.

I've never had a bad experience related to the commander.

I've even played 16v16 games where there was no commander on either my team or on both teams and it didn't put us at a disadvantage or ruin the game.
