They should release BF1942 under their play4free label. That would be much better than yet another modern shooter.

From memory BFV (POE)? that had a rush mode but it was called frontlines, you had to cap the flags in a certain order but still had the freedom of the entire map.

Vanilla BF:V didn't have that so it must have been a mod.

That was in Desert Combat also if I remember correctly.

sounds a bit like assault lines (cap these flags and once done, cap base).

Aww man, I miss DC. I remember around a year ago there was a 32 player server up that was almost always full that ran DC and cycled through a ton of maps, so much fun.

I wonder if its still there...

EDIT: It still is. :O http://www.game-monitor.com/bf1942_G...Favorites.html

Probably have to wait for tonight for it to get full though. Theres still a sizeable amount of people playing the game actually haha, the moongamers server is always full it seems.

You're telling me. I was the lead tester at the end of the DC days. Back then I was unmarried. It was awesome.

"push" maps is what you guys are thinking of.

Yep - I think thats what they call it

what was nice is it was 2 way rush. it was like frontlines mode. The 2 border flags were the only ones takable.

Dead on! Kids today think they're grass is greener without having ever played our games. We old guys have the experience of games of yesteryear and today's games. We get to make the comparison from 1st hand experience.

Ofcourse a good pilot will still be effective, but if you are very good at something then you are going to get a high score and be a great asset to the team.

Seriously if jets only had that green box appear when the vehicle was spotted, it would be much more balanced, a pilot would need the rest of his team to spot, and with a bad team 1 jet pilot couldn't dramatically alter the game.
I agree, I always wanted the BF2 jets to only be able to highlight enemy targets if someone else "painted" them. Then the pilot could get the green box of death otherwise they'd have to use line of sight and that incredible speed that makes the jet so annoying works against the pilot because he sees a target, passes it and has to come back around to aim and fire BUT if it's a mobile target guess what it's changed position and he'll have to relocate it again.

Simple fix for balance against jets:
                                1. Anti-air missile for infantry. They have to paint the target and get a lock before firing. Jets have limited flares to counter a missile. A missile tracks excellent on a straight away or within a certain range.
                                2. Atmospheric conditions such as haze or cloud cover. A graphic layer in every map that the mapper can decide how opaque it should be. Jets have to fly beneath the clouds to acquire a target but it exposes them to AA. Once their above the clouds or haze they can no longer see targets easily (unless painted with a laser designator, like a tracer in BC2). Now this isn't too say it'll be cloudy every map but again if you're a moving target and a pilot has limited visability and time to react than the lowly infantryman or tank driver has a better chance.
