Why do I have an inkling that stat padding is part of this?

People can just open a server where 4 players just constantly resupply, heal each other.

Yeah, I was thinking about posting from that perspective as well but it didn't seem emo and whiny enough for my mood at the time so I went with the, well, emo and whiny angle.

Maybe DICE can look at it that we as PC players are so desperate for a PC BF title that we'll out-play the consoles on ANYTHING that comes our way, and maybe they can imagine how their sales would look if they release a game that is PC-centric to start.

It would take a LOT of people stat padding in order to make this big of a difference.
Honestly, you can see the global stats and see that Xbox players have more kills than the PC. But the PC side has more teamwork actions across the board. This indicates to me a fundamental difference in play style.

Also, four people or even multiple servers padding wouldn't work as well as a full 32-player server that has people just playing as two teams. And once you get enough people together to pad that would make the same numbers as the 32-player server, someone is going to do their level best to ruin it and start 'asploding people.

I started playing some BC2 for the first time in a while to help (and to get some practice before I buy Vietnam). I didn't help at all though, since I played sniper and didn't spot anyone

Why isn't kill assist? Critical kill assist? Drive assist? Or Squad kill assist in there? That would speed up the damn thing.

That could be, but I was doing that just now and I was spotting everything like crazy. I would think they would do that too.

I mostly used medic for this though. I just ran around spotting, throwing meds, and reviving like crazy.

They really don't spot much, though. It's awkward to reach over and hit the button, taking their thumb off of the stick. Not like they need it for moving or anything...
Not only that, they don't want to risk someone stealing the kill.

Come to think of it, I don't think PC players spot that often either.

Well I spot the enemy as I shoot them, but my teammate just steal my kill.

I thought they were going to release store copies originally, but you can only get it online now as far as I know.
