Unless BF3 stays true to 1942/Vietnam/BF2, I wont be playing it. Its that simple.

I concur with you on this. BF3 should be a continuation of the original series, not a modification of the new series. I love the Bad Company series but nothing can touch 1942 or BF2.

I know I have said this before, but didnt "true" BF1942 fans consider BF2 an abomination?
No pilotable ships, just a couple of figher-planes on each side, "magic" revives etc.
That pure BF concept you worship is an illusion, the game has changed significantly with each release.

If BF3 doesn't have any BOT support at all, i most likely wont even bother myself but we'll see how it goes, im really really hyped about it, BF2 is a massive disapointment untill DICE FINALLY released AI nav meshes to the public to create our own BOTS and COOP for the maps, but that took a good year and half after release, it was absolute agony untill that point, but once the bots had been created, for me, it became the best of the series, i didn't care much for non piloting the ships, was cool to do, and i'd love to have that back, but they made up for it with the new commander mode. BF2142 is extremely tough to say that its part of the series, because it was really just felt like a TC MOD rather then an whole new game in the series, but it had some cool stuff in it, like the cloak, mechs bore me to hell and back, thats so 90s.

If it has the 64 player maps, with full bot support, not dumbed down 16 player maps for SP and 64 for MP rubbish, its going to be one awesome game without a doubt, especially for LAN parties.

Hum, coop is fun but the game isn't made for it, the AI is dumb as hell. Maybe if they do a better version of Onslaught, but it would divert ressources from the core game which is multiplayer.

I would rather that they didnt waste any effort on SP and bots. There are many games that does that better than BF, MP is where it can make a difference.

I wish DICE would just go public with what they're planning with BF3 really. All we've heard so far can be interpreted in a million different ways and people just end up getting upset over a game they in reality knows nothing about. If they are aiming for a 2011 release we should hear something soon though...

Me too, in a way. At least not like BF2/BF2142's commander who has the ability to just right-click spam and spot anything from an overhead map. The commander should have control of the UAV but should actually have to fly it (it doesn't necessarily have to be armed like the one in BC2, it could be a scout copter that has active radar much like the littlebird from AF, but the control station shouldn't be in an easily-snipe-able location). Plus, IMO, the commander shouldn't have a control station at his base that only HE can enter which controls the UAV and his other toys - that way he doesn't get shanked because he doesn't have to go hide in the corner of a building somewhere.

Bots to me are essential for LAN play if you dont want any SP in the game, which is kind of retarded coz you might aswell go and play a MMO if you want multiplayer only. There is still a lot of people out there that still dont have the connection speeds to make take full advantage of the multiplayer aspects of the game online, that along with server side lag can ruin the multiplayer experience to a degree. I personally dont look at a BF game and imediately think " MUST TAKE THIS GAME ONLINE". Its more of a multiplayer game then singleplayer, sure, but even the originals which made BF what it is today still had bot support and lan support, aswell as the online component and i never thought the AI was dumb in any way at all, AI today is far superior to where AI was 10 years ago. I'd rather no SP campaigne at all and just have bots myself, that way if i wanted to play the game, IM NOT forced to take it online only, campaignes get really boring aswell. Just wanna get into a game, kick some ass, have a blast, and leave, not having to deal with E-Jerks and hacks which flooded BC2 servers.

When bf2 came out, i was not happy with UAV and Commander Arty

Commander spotting was also wrecking game play also IMO.

The lack of a navy and no manual artillery(like POE) was a disapointment to me also, so i had to get used to these things.

I still think bf42 had it perfect,no auto features!no scripting,no majic death from above when your in a epic gun fight(cough*commander arty), everything was simple!raw and just down to the mouse and tactics:salute:

bf1942 did have it perfect, played that game straight for like 2 years.
