No? Its not crap, excatly because it is an even playing field.

Thats a fair point. If the pay-for-levels option isnt available until most players have leveled anyway, then it doesnt hurt the game in the same way as a day-one level gap.

That assumes that all weapons are still balanced, but I fear that they will start to make better weapons for those paying, to give them an incentive to buy. Thats what the very same people did in BF:H

It maybe be hard to admit but EA is the exact same as IW, they are out to make money.
The problem is a potential gap between those who pay and does who doesnt, leading to a situation where you have to pay to stand a chance.

It seems to me that we are getting less for more.

To use the MMO analogy again, in most of them you will end up playing with people of similar levels. I am not goin to enjoy being up against a group of people with max level and equipment from day one. I fact I dumped BF:H when it became clear that you could buy an significant advantage despite all their promises.

A split communit is a problem, but the previous BF games seemed to do ok.
Mod support no one is going to argue against, singling out dice is 100% unfair, a lot of developers have cut mod support to help sales for DLC, look no further then call of duty. Some like blizzard have gone the opposite way, already rocking excellent mods for starcraft 2 that's just in freaking beta. If dice pumped out some totally new maps for free this would ease the burden I get that. Dice has at least stated they are working on a mod tool set for the frostbite engine, maybe it won't come out for Bad company 2 but if it comes to battlefield 3 I think we will all be able to forgive thema little.

However what you said about previous battlefield games not being broken up community wise from my perspective is fairly false. I got Special forces, Euro forces, and armoured fury day one for each. Special forces die within months. Euroforces wasn't as popular because maybe over all it wasn't amazing, armored forces did a bit better, but as soon as those maps loaded you would lose about 10 players, that is a big problem. Heck even with OPTIONAL FREE MAPS it was a issue, until Highway tampa was made part of a patch.

Your analogy for MMO's and going up against players that have better equipment makes no sense, most people playing already have 1-2 classes fully unlocked, so some new people zooming up to everyone else's level changes next to nothing. Most MMORPGs aren't balanced at all for PvP because of equipment from spending WAYYYY too much time to get certain weapons. Some get by this with points specificly from PvP, to help standardize gear just for PvP. However from my experience even then it takes a lot longer to max out a class with gear, then the week it takes to max out a class in Bad company 2.

Also a level 1 player can hop into a tank and blow apart a whole team, if they are a natural armour whore or lucky. That can't happen in a MMORPG.

Thats a problem with leveling period NOT with this pay for level system. And I agree with you 100%, like I said before, FPS's in the past never has leveling period, all equipment was accessible from the start. Any military simulator will still have this more or less. With ranks just to show player experience and not much else.

Also once I see better weapons for pay I'll be with you in protest, the Spectat weapons come close, camouflage is a small advantage but I think I can live with it, I will be able to say that more clearly once I get it for PC.

        They need a tank?

I've made new soldiers just for funny names, and it really does not take a week to unlock good weapons/gadgets. The difference between a person just starting out and someone who has ranked up? One bullet or 25 health. Because magnum or body armor mean as much as your weapon choice. The AEK is good, the 9A-91 Avtomat and PKM are okay, and the M24 is a standard bolt-action sniper rifle.

A new soldier is screwed more by the lack of ammo/defibs/medkits than weapons, and that only lasts for a few rounds.

At first I thought, what's the big deal if people want to waste money on this, but now I think it is pretty pathetic for them to even offer it in the first place. What's next, selling trainers and cheat codes? It's almost on par with the people who sell hacks for games.

That description fits me, but I have still managed to unlock everything in BC2. It is rather mild when compared to its predecessors.
Btw. they also sold you weapons in BF2 and BF2142, they were just better at hiding it. But as far as I remember, owners of SF and NS got two unlock points each time non-owners got one.

No, its not even close. Hacks are not something everyone has or can get in game by playing longer. Not to mention altering the game entirely to do something different.

This reminds me of Syndrome in The Incredibles where he says he will sale his gadgets; "And when everyone is super, no one will be."

Also a few brought up a good point on expansion packs for previous games. They did give unlocks, extra maps, weapons to play with. Though the maps could not be played due to lack of servers, everything else was an option.

Re: Have you seen this one yet?

I played the beta, and if i havent paied 50 euros for the game , i would anyway today have mental problems becaue i was seriously wanting this game.
I played it till they applyed the last patch that nerfed guns , ****ed up hitreg and ****ed up knifing. Synce last patch i just played like 2 hours.
1 to see how game was, and the rest was my 15 minutes with crunch and a few more time with my friends.

I just dont like the game how it is now, it takes too mutch to kill someone and the only way i can play is hardcore and i still think sometimes im shooting airsoft balls.
The game is nice but if they dont put tracer darts, helicopters, and all raise a little general damage then i wont be playing it too mutch and i'm already considering reinstalling bf2 and bf2 special forces back again, cause it was mutch more fun

I hate hardcore. I don't get it. I play sniper, too, but somehow I just hate hardcore. IMHO, hardcore in BC2 is badly implemented, completely not well thought-out. For example:

                      1. What's the purpose of recon ball in hardcore?
                      2. Spotting is useless, but you still get points.
                      3. Snipers are still OP with magnum.
                      4. MG36 red dot bug.

I know that people coming from BF2 may have problem with the bullet damage in BC2. I got used to 2142 airsoft LMGs so I don't have too much problem with it. I prefer some guns over others, but most guns are more or less balanced one way or another. The R11/R7 patch screwed some guns, but not by too big a margin. Most ARs are underpowered to balance noobtube, which is OK now.

A lot of players use only particular few guns that they feel good with. I use all of them. All I can say is that R11/R7 is a lot better than pre-patch on weapons balance. Some other guns got buff and some others got slight nerf. Some guns are just unusable pre-patch, such as M93R, and now they are at least usable. I am much in favor of current weapons chart than before. There were too much noobtubing and Carl Gusnoobing.

Bullet damage on consoles pre-patch are much more devastated than PC version. Now I've heard people complaining that weapons are nerfed on console versions as well. I suspect that it's the hitreg problem which causes lack of weapons damage, especially with high ROF guns. There is an instance where I shot a guy in the head three times to kill him with GOL in my video. If such hitreg problem persists, then it translate to 20 rounds of PKM or one full mag of Uzi with body shots

I just play hardcore because of the damage, not because of rolling a recon, since i dont like to snipe that mutch
i come from bf2 and bf2142 and the damage there was fine, nothing compared here.
in bf2142 you need to do even less damage than in bf2, but the problem is that the damage for games like bf2 and bf2142 was fine because they werent so fast placed, so it was ok. i think damage like in mw2 in a game like bf2 would ruin the game. the problem , for me, is that for a fast placed game the guns take too mutch shots to kill. personaly i just dont like it , sometimes it sounds like i'm raiding in a mmorpg and killing takes forever . I liked the game when it was before the last patch. for me they just needed to balance the m60, leave the m16 as it was , not nerf it like they did, dont make tracer dart a lazor that is even faster than bullets (i stopped playing the game imidiatly when i saw that they made tracer dart a noob weapon so everyone could shoot helis down) , another thing that frustrates me is when you knife a guy 5 times, then he turns around and knife you with 1 try. that the stupidiest thing i could ever imagine.
for me the last patch was the worse they could do

I think all they had to do in the last patch was reduce blast radius of Gustav, some gun bugs and slightly reduce the damage of M60.

I like the BF2142 game pace, there's a sense of "front." BF2 for its big maps.

The BFBC2 experience for me, is best summarized as the counter-strike experience.

Now they are making it worse by giving lazy people patches.

I unlocked everything within 3 weeks, and I play 1 hour a day.
