Still no Steam preload with less than 12 hours to launch on north america.

EDIT: May I be negative? I'm quite dissapointed by Steam on my first purchase, this is not an indie or substandard publisher release to not have a preload sorted out on time with absolutely no news on the part of Steamworks as to why; defineteively not preordering through steam again, I'm sticking to back catalog from now on.

Read somewhere on the Steam forums that its been delayed due to some install issues but even then they should have had it sorted earlier.

They certainly deserve negativity. Its one thing to have problems, but the lack of communication from Steam is too much.
I would be fuming mad, except that the game isn't scheduled for release over here before the 4th. So I am happy to let them work out the problems with the US lab rats

It's OK to let off a little STEAM about it. ( See what I did there?)

There are still some Steam fanboys on their forums bashing anyone disappointed in the lack of a response from Steam about the delay. Cracks me up.

D2D doesn't sell to mexico, EAD is chargin in euros for everything to us; I don't know about X-Fire, I only ordered through steam on recommendation from a friend; but I suspect X-Fire (wich on top of that, is selling the limited ed for 45 bucks) has alreayd finished preloading.

I'm gonna go check my local Office Depot, they usually have games on launch, but a tad expensive; if they have it at a reasonable price I'm cancelling Steam.

X-Fire store mentions I should get my codes by today at 7 PM, I guess they start the preload at that time; game is limited edition, for 49.95 USD, I can even use paypal to get it... :P

Well yes, because for one thing, the first reason you get a digital copy is to get it at launch, the first minute servers are up. I can't remember if 2142 got a street leak but I was able to download a full week before release, activated and installed the day before, and was ready to jump into multiplayer at launch.

Steam was recommended to me as a professional service leaps and bounds above EADM, wich was the only service I had used before. I didn't preorder through EADM this time because they charge me in euros, at an even higher price than what actual europeans pay; and I say FTHAT.
And the beef isn't that the preload isn't there already, but the fact that there are no news about this, we have to hunt down DICE twitters, but nothing official from Steam.

I don't know if this could work, but there are suggestions about getting the pirated copy, and activating it through steam at launch to save time.

People got mad that the other digital distribution vendors have already released a pre-load, and Steam hasn't.
The people at Steam haven't even acknowledged that people are buying this highly anticipated game from them. It just seems like they don't give a damn now that they've gotten their money.

People generally don't pre-order a game a month in advance with the expectation of actually playing it days after release. We pre-order with the intent to play as soon as possible.

I'm so glad I didn't get as a digi download this time around seeing how my ISP has kindly capped by bandwidth to 60Kb/s, I will await the arrival of my disc version.

Ouch, that's just wrong. So glad my ISP doesn't do that.

Also, people need to relax and calm down, big deal you can't preload yet, just be patient and wait.

That and Steam isn't a newcomer to the digital distribution business; in fact they are pretty much the inventors and pioneers; you'd think they have at least SOME experience releasing a title that rose to second most sold in less than a week after the preorders were available.

EAD, the ugly red headed child of digital distribution, that goes through revisions to its client three times a day sometimes; got a working and seamless preload of a game, two full days ahead; we didn't expect steam to do it on the same day, but certainly not to be in the dark less than 12 hours to launch day.

Patience my hairy behind; patience you have to an upcoming, unexperienced company that shows some effort and genuine concern.

Digital distribution is Steam's only business; they've been around what? 8, 10 years? They are not allowed to fusge things up anymore on releases of this caliber. Hell, I bought Arkham Asylum from Games for Windows live and I could even use my remaining MS points to get it with a discount.
And I might buy SFIV from them too; first purchase too, I just used my Xbox LIVE username and i didn't even have to type in my debit card numbers or anything; FROM A MICROSOFT PROGRAM NO LESS. Even the install was seamless. Right now I'm much more inclined to try out Xfire store than using steam again.

People are just disappointed and looking at other digital distribution vendors for their future purchases.

Telling people to calm down when they're already calm just makes them want to hurt you.

It only seems to be once a week so should be fine come friday.

EA are the game's publishers so I'd expect EAD to have it up faster than anyone else.

This is true. But D2D has had their pre-load up for a while now, too. Steam seems to be dropping the ball a lot lately with MAJOR releases.
