Wow. I don't even want to imagine how upset you'd be if I rickrolled you.

      Take one of these:

p.s. I preordered through Steam too.

I am more upset that the trolling is stolen from the EA forums. How are decent trolls going to make a living if people keep pirating their work?

          Re: PreLoaded And Installed

I would not recommend getting it from the EA store. Look into some of the fine print of how long you can re download. Because at least a few years ago. You had to pay extra to get to be able to re-download it after 1 year from purchase. Now it sounds like thats not even offered anymore. So thats right after one year of purchase if you don't keep that image on your hard drive for good, keeping in mind failing hard drives, corrupted images, viruses, degrading dvd's ect as possibly destroying said image, and even multiple copies of said image. Every other digital distrubuton method lets you reload load forever pretty much, even if they do pull the plug on letting you re download it'll be much longer then a year.

I can agree it seems weird that steam wouldn't have a pre-download for a major title like this, and be very silent as to why, when even D2D has pre-download.

However after using D2D, and impulse, and the EA store. I can say even some screw up like this dosen't really effect the longer term usefulness of steam it self. With those you can just re-download games from them just off the site. but there is no built in friends list, no auto patching, and re-installing from a back up steam image takes only a few minutes. I haven't tried Xfire ever so I don't know how well their distribution software works. Though still I haven't heard of another digital distribution method thats as robust.

Also the steam sales are what shook up the game for the competitors. Haven't boughten from D2D for years, I rarely saw sales. Now with steam pushing weekend deals, mid week and holiday deals, all the competitors offer similar sales strategy.

Going through the challenges in Arkham Asylum, still no steam on my end.

Oh we are not knocking down Steam as a robust platform, it just sucks lately for preorders on day 1 it seems. I know for certain, that if Supreme Commander got a preload and BC2 didn't, something is fudged up in Steam release, and they are doing squat to solve it. Or if they are solving it, they aren't giving out any info that would assure you you didn't pay for nothing. Meh.

I folded.. I couldn't wait for Game to let my copy goto the posty so I got it of EA Store :p , EA emails me the cd-key and off I go.

Edit; Having run the updater it seems its downloading the day1 patch even for the EU so we shall see how that works out.

Steam usually downloads games at at least 1.5 Mb/s for me.

last large game I downloaded over steam did the same thing, went from 18% -> 100%. I think because the file is so large, and a lot of people are trying to download it, that the correct download status isn't showing up.
