Yeah, that's the crux of the problem. diehards are hellbent on not liking anything that is not BF2, wich, wow as it was; is not the end-all FPS some would like it to be.

The "diehards" that I know of, who did not transition from BF2 to any other BF game made lenghty and analytical posts about the flaws, lacks and reasons for them not liking the new BF games. They were usually met with ridicule by the less intelligent newer fanboy crowd. Year 2007 was amazing, and painful at the same time. This has nothing to do with some silly fanboy loyalty, but with the simple fact that people didnt like to transition to an inferior game.

Exactly! Its not that BC2 is a better game than BF2, its just different and inferior and sucks outright.

Seriously though, it is different and some, fanboys, diehards, whatever, do not like the setup and feel of it. BF3 is what people want.

This is a CS:S scenerio (to me) because look at how long that game has been going on. I cant stand the game myself, but that doesnt mean its terrible and everyone playing it are wrong. Of course there is a cult following and if any game does actually have fanboys, its this one.

Come Kyle, tell me I am wrong, please.

You can easily compare these two games, aspect by aspect. Claiming that its "not a worse or better experience" is the oldest excuse in the book. I remember people used to claim "Resident Evil 5 will be a new kind of horror, not worse, not better, just different" and when it came out, it was just an action game with the name on it. Its been used before, doesnt work, for a lot of us, its not a matter of opinion or taste. Some of us really can back up our preferences with certain arguments, see, describe and reason the flaws.

BC2 is not a "different" BF game. Its better in some, worse in other areas. Currently, its better for the infantry playing BF veterans who easily transitioned to BF2142. Have you seen any of Total Battlefield 2 vehicular veterans around? I havent, and I remember most of them.

hell no, I still await the third coming of Battlefield (its written in the bible)

for me Bad Company 2 is great fun to play, something I enjoy and in the same mould as other Battlefield games (vehicles etc) but not like BF2 etc

I enjoy it because its not some slapstick easy crap like MW2 and requires my brain to work among other things, but I still look forward greatly to seeing what BF3 will be like

I will play BC2 until then though

Yeah, the vehicle mechanics are very different in BF2 vs 2142 vs BC2, thats for sure.

                          Re: Will BFBC2 replace BF2?

stats are cool when used to assess your OWN playstyle, or to see trends.

But they can be easily taken out of context; one example: BF2142 stats global - Mexico is ranked number 35 with around 800 players; has a K/D of 1.2something and has W/L of 1.0075 or so; if the global ranks were single players, Mexico would have better K/D and W/L than US and Germany, even placed 32 ranks lower. It should mean that if Mexico played against Germany or US, they'd atumatically win? It has better K/D, so either US and Germany cannot numerically win the game, since Mexico also has a better W/L.
We kill more enemies than we get killed, and win more games than we lose; yet we are ranked 32 places below. funny hey?

Oh and I know how those stats work, I'm just pointing out that the numbers by themselves mean nothing. But they do provide an insight in playstyles and trends.

Ever since stat tracking became a popular choice for multiplayer games, people have started turning slowly into selfish and individualistic a55holes. Anyone who has been with Battlefield 2 since June 2005 when the Demo came out, knows what Im talking about. Modern gamer is all about "me me me me me", when was the last time you saw someone in COD4 (BC2 is too new so people are in awe of its graphical side) say "nice shot", or "man you have skills"?

I know stilla was sarcastic. Im just saying that the gaming community has changed. Maybe expectations and standards are changing along with it.

True that. I remember back in BF:V there were a lot of 'ns' and 'gg' chats. Now it's usually quiet in chat except for people spewing racial slurs and other insults and then threads and vids that can be usually just be summed up as 'OMG look at mah KDR!!!!'. I think stats are fun, but they've certainly not done anything to make the community more cohesive.

I don't see what's wrong with calling BC2 a 'different' Battlefield game. It has a different playstyle than the other PC Battlefield games, with a smaller player count and different map designs. I'm not saying you can't like one more than the other, but to flat out call one better or worse is just generalizing, which leads us to "better in some areas, worse in some". So what is wrong with calling it 'different'?
