    Re: Will BFBC2 replace BF2?

When BF2 came out all those years ago ... yes, it did wow me. It was Joint Operations for me all over again, but better game play and better graphics. I had loads of fun with BF2 for probably 2.5 years, the most I can say I have ever played a game but after re-installing it recently and playing ... I don't see anything exciting about it anymore. It "feels" like an old game to me and won't be something I ever play again.

With that being said, when I played the Bad Company 2 Beta, it felt like a "renewal" of BF2 to me. Now, as everyone else, I hope BF3 is 10x better than BC2 is, but that's not to say that I feel Bad Company 2 is the best game I have played in years, and that's my opinion.

For all this nonsense about it attracting CoD Players ... Get over it, BF3 will do the same thing. The maps in BC2 are HUGE compared to any CoD game so if BC2 attracts them, BF3 will do the same easily. For Andri, the newbie, to say CoD games consists of young children, better go look again because although BC2 is better than any CoD game ... there are huge competitions in CoD4 that by no means consists of children, and I have found myself enjoy competitive play much more in a CoD game than any BF game to date. (I hope BC2 changes that)

Overall, yep, I think BF2 vanilla especially will see a hit from BC2. Maybe not so much with the mods because usually just die hard fans play mods, and maybe not so much with 2142 since it is a completely different time setting, but I truly feel BF2 will see a decrease in players.

Having played the beta a bit more, I'm starting to feel much the same way about BC2 and BF2142, although I haven't played that old game in months. I have a feeling I'd still enjoy it a lot, but it has to start showing its age sometime, right?

i think it will replace BF2 for many of the guys into the whole modern combat scene, but not so much for the 2142 guys who like the futuristic sci-fi setting.

I think BFBC 2 is just a stepping stone to BF3. Bad Company will bring a lot of new players to the Battlefield franchise, once they are in there is no going back, they will be eager to play BF3 - more canon fodder for the BF2 Veterans to KILL KILL KILL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MUhahahahahahaahahahahahahh

After playing the beta for a short time: no, it won't.

It's an obvious console port. It plays like a console game, it looks like a console game, it's far too cumbersome, it didn't recognize my mouse wheel half the time, and to top it off, you can't even go prone in it.

The only thing I can think to say is get used to it because I think it is a trend that is gonna be around for a while.

With that kind of attitude for PC gamers, ported games will be the only games on PC soon enough.

When was the last time you played a console FPS game? It seems the trend is to label a game as a "console port" just as a derogatory insult for a game you don't like. I didn't have any problems with it being too cumbersome. I've played MW2 on a PS3 and this felt NOTHING like that.

You're just one of those fanboys who feels entitled to a remake of BF2. Good thing you're in the minority or we'd end up with another game just as glitchy and full of holes as BF2.

The last time I played a console FPS game was about a month ago, and for several hours. CoD4, actually, at a friend's house. Having played it on PC then on console, I can tell a difference between the two. The console version was more cumbersome compared to the PC version. I'm not just being butthurt about sucking in the console version, I got good KDR's in every round I played, of about 4:1 to a few games of 8:1. I also used to play Halo, BF2, BIA, and some other games on my old xbox not too long ago.

Also, that's a pathetic assumption Sure, I wouldn't mind a remake of BF2, but there's no point to it. But if there were to be a remake of BF2, I don't see why, just because it's a remake, that it would have to be as buggy as BF2 was at release/is still.

It'll put a further dent into the communities. But it won't kill it. Cause you have "FOLIFERS" like Spik3d until the next real Battlefield comes out for them.
