There's no activation limits on GTA4, that's why you don't have to de-authorize it.

they should be aware this will likely lead to BC2 being a 1-2 star game on amazon.com

Now that is one angry individual.

But in reality, he's right. DRM barely slows pirates down at all. In fact, powerful DRM is a challenge to them. It's a game. And the hackers win every single time.

Also, they possibly create more pirates than they prevent. If someone has to go to those lengths to get his game to work, now he knows where to find cracks. He may have never even thought about it before. But now he knows that pirates actually get a better experience than people who bought the retail version in many cases. The game works, and they don't even have to jack with discs.

What motivation does he have to buy games in the future? He loves games and wants to support the people who make them? They've shown how they feel about him and his support.

^ Ya. I mean I know devs wanna stop pirates. But do they actually see success ever? I mean mw2 had to the most pirated copies. And crackers ALWAYS crack a game.

While I agree securom isn't a huge problem, and even less if it only does disc check, I refuse to buy securom games on steam(gta4 was a mistake I'm ashamed of not to mention the game was ****) as steam itself should be enough of drm. I truly hope there won't be drm on BC2, since ME2 doesn't have either, or I'm forced to cancel the pre-order out of principle.
                Bad news:

The Steam edition will also have SecuROM. We are working closely with Steam to make the integration well-functioning.

aww a lot of steam guys will be very unhappy, lol.

steam itself should be enough DRM, why this nonsense?

Company wasting money on a system that does not work, is not required by law, and hurts their customers.

Can someone clear this up for me? Can I play online if I choose to use the dvd to authenticate?

For online play you activate it once and then can play without your dvd.

You know... Just a thought, maybe it's not working because he has 2 CD-ROM drives and the game is on a DVD?
