See, expecting the worst has proven me right again. I bet you thought I was just being contrary when I asked what made you think the Steam version wouldn't have it?

You know... Just a thought, maybe it's not working because he has 2 CD-ROM drives and the game is on a DVD?

It installed just fine, though, so I don't think that's it... It was a big issue with that version of SecuROM. I had the same problem and went the same route. Using a crack was easier than unplugging/disabling my other optical drive and uninstalling Daemon Tools. That was the first game I bought that drove me to hitting up crack sites to get it working. Draw your own conclusions as to what transpired afterwards...
