I agree, Chris. I played a lot of sniper in TF2 on a 100% crit server (if you're not familiar, 100% crit for snipers basically means 1 shot kill, regardless of where you hit them). It seems easier, which it kinda is, but you can die instantly, too. So it's all about speed and reflexes when it's 100% crit. After playing mostly TF2 and going back to BF2, my aim was a lot better.

I also played scout for a while and it also improved my skill in UT3. So I appreciate TF2, lol

However, BF2 is not a simulator nor is it trying to be. Deviation is the representation of loads of factors, sway, movement etc, but it still kinda feels wrong... Not that I have shot a firearm before, but there are much better ways of representing these factors.

The game allows you to maintain rock-steady aim, therefore they must compensate to allow for the weapon movement that would be present, ESPECIALLY in a high-stress combat environment. If EA did not have some variation in the hits, then every shot would be a one-shot head-kill.

I think EA did a marvelous job of compromising. The hit ratios are similar to the real world, IMHO.

Do we have any Vets here that can chime in and say a few words about REAL combat shooting?

            -
Yea it would be wonderful if it didn't take 4-5 shots for a kill. Like I said, its an arcade game, not a military simulator.

It makes a lot of sense that the bullets should be more accurate because it takes more bullets for a "kill," whereas a single bullet will most likely incapacitate in real life.

And I mean in real life, certain (infantry) engagements are won just by the fact that one side was able to put more rounds downrange, so it makes sense that there would be a lot more rounds expended.

But BF2 is more 1v1 and smaller squad actions, not 3-4 infantry companies slugging it out with squad machine guns, and a full complement of automatic assault rifles.

                settingsManager.U32Set GSInterpolationTime 400 :)

If your aiming is based on optical aiming (where is he now and where will he be, judging by what I see) instead of instinct, this line in console helps a lot. And I find TF2 is easier than BF2, but you also have to be quicker. 2Fort all you do is walk out in the open on your team's sniper deck, then zoom and shoot - don't walk out zoomed and you kill a lot of them quite easily.

Hitting someone with a gun in this game is mostly luck. The hit reg is so effing screwed up.No amount of practice will ever change that. The game is broken.End of story.

Been playing this for years but stopped after MY old PC could not handle PR any more GFX-card probably on the way out after five years. Anyway came back in for the new patch.

The whole appeal in PR was that with those guns you were dangerous, you shot someone they went down, The hit box they could do little but as one hit actually registered hard like a bullet would it felt so much real and better.

I was playing last night on a inf map only and left due to being sick to death of unloading a clip into a enemy player, sometimes a few feet away from behind for them to turn round with a more powerful gun and kill me after first doing the

“ I’m being shot twenty times I better turn round and shoot back”

What don’t the developers get, make bullets count and make a game of it, not make bullets soft it adds to the game – no it does not…………love the guys trying to say you need great skill, awareness, positioning that means jack when the player is bulletproof and you have out thought them. Guy had 50 kills on the server and he was simply running round blasting out in the open and getting a medic to be a god and give him life back. He’d last two minutes in a good game, and be killed and have to learn to actually think.

Ok its BF2, it’s a game and anyone can look good on it. I appreciated the scores in PR but not in this, being that no. 1 player means very little when you realise how poor it is at times and you need to play in a BF2 style that is so far removed from the great fps.

I was getting “owned” as the plebs say as I was still playing with the mindset of PR, moving from cover to cover, taking careful aim and not shooting like it was going out of fashion. Once I applied the Kiddie factor as I call it I was back in the top few.

Run about like a headless chicken, Shoot the endless ammo, spray the place while jumping….

Ok lads what are you playing that is a proper fps were hits count and guns kill? Sick of this six hits to the face and nothing bull. Just took BF2 and H off the machine that way I'll not be arsed installing to play such a poorly done game that looks so good.
                        I like you :)
As far as a proper fps to play right now, there isn't one.I am waiting for BC2,it has a different engine and from what i've seen, the hit reg is very good in that game and doesn't seem to be an issue. We can only hope.
