I've found an alternative to this... why bother aiming when you can have the Jackhammer on Iron Gator. I just spent tonight utterly bulldozing my way through those lovely confined corridors.

Any fast-paced shooter that forces you to aim faster and shoot true or die will force you to become a better shooter.

Back in good old vanilla BF1942 I had thought that I had become a decent player. Then I tried the Desert Combat mod and found my gameplay to be woefully inadequate. :icon_redface: Same game, but different world. The weapons were more accurate and more powerful and the overall gameplay was much faster paced. You simply had to think, anticipate and react faster: aiming was simply a component of it.

After that, going back to vanilla BF1942 or other slower mods, I found that the game had totally slowed down for me. I would run into a bunker and blast a couple of guy's heads off with a pistol before they could even react. In DC you got to love your pistol when you were out of ammo and didn't have time to reload.

Counter Strike Source, Modern Combat and World at War are all good for point-and-click headshot training. The key is to set your mouse sensitivity to a good balance, so you can comfortably nail guys at range, but not be totally screwed in CQ.

If you like that, then try the seals M11-87 on gator, its much better. 1 shot kills means your ammo lasts a long time, plus its more gratifying. :)

Doesnt seem like nothing has really changed for me as far sniper accuracy goes, still ranked in the top 1% in the US & worldwide.

Nope just stating my accuracy hasn't dropped @ all, since BF2 went Gold.
                Adapt, and overcome.

hmm if you've played BF2 for a while now, a few weeks of bad accuracy isn't going to lower your "US & Worldwide" accuracy ranks... that's why i think chris was perplexed by your statement.

The aiming in this game doesn't bother me, my penis is still 8 inches long and 7 in girth.

I never liked the feel of BF2's infantry combat, but nice advice anyways :)

I think lots of you folks have probably never shot real guns. I think the BF2 hit ratio closely emulates real-world shooting. I have been shooting all kinds of real guns for many years. My favorite was competition combat-style with .45 ACP pistols. That was a lotta fun.

Bottom line - shooting a gun accurately is very hard work. Snap-shooting a gun with precision is basically impossible.

Therefore, I think BF2 emulates the real world pretty darn closely. Sometimes you hit and sometimes you miss. There are an incredible number of things which will influence the impact point of the bullet. BF2 includes some variation on the hits, which I think is a nice touch.......

Haha, regardless of shooting skill, the bullets goes where you aim the gun, not in a random cone of fire like in BF2.

And plus its an arcade game.

Kyle, this guy is actually right. Anyone has any stats on spent ammunition in major wars, in relation with gained kills?

Not saying its how it should be, just saying its an interesting observation and comparison.

Yes, I agree 100% that a bullet typically goes where you aim the gun. But in real life shooting it is IMPOSSIBLE to maintain a rock-steady aim (unless prone, even then there is slight variation).

The game allows you to maintain rock-steady aim, therefore they must compensate to allow for the weapon movement that would be present, ESPECIALLY in a high-stress combat environment. If EA did not have some variation in the hits, then every shot would be a one-shot head-kill.

I think EA did a marvelous job of compromising. The hit ratios are similar to the real world, IMHO.

Do we have any Vets here that can chime in and say a few words about REAL combat shooting?
