I switched to Fileplanet (had to wait in queue 30 mins) and am now getting between 300-500k. Queue up on Fileplanet. It's worth the wait.

Quarry, a map with little or no cover, would be better with Littlebird? This is well thought out from someone who admits to being a crack shoot with one.

Agree on the Blue Pearl, had enough of that map during the BETA. TOO MUCH DAMN FOG!
Uh no, read back what I wrote... I SAID THE NEW MAP (notice the singular here) SUCKS. Not the Euroforces/Armored Fury maps.

And if you guys think that hit registration is acceptable, you have pretty f*cking low standards. Go play some COD4 and you'll see what a real infantry game looks and behaves like.

The new map having no helicopters has no bearing on me disliking it: rather, it's just another pointless map by virtue of the infantry/hit reg being completely bonkers.

No offense, but if I'm standing perfectly still about 10 feet from you, shooting controlled bursts and none of them hit home, something's seriously wrong... especially since the other tard isn't moving either. My aim isn't off, so it has to be the game.

If you doubt that, we can go for a few rounds of COD4. You'll change your mind quickly enough.

Im enjoying the new maps and armies, just what the game needed. And the bug/gameplay fixes are much appreciated also. Really enjoying shooting down planes lol! And hit detection is alot better i think, seems better anyway.

I was playing withing an hour of release! Not bad for 2gb patch.

I like how after all this time they still couldn't figure out how to fix it; I mean I love the BF games but every once and a while you realize just how crappy the code is.

BF2 isn't meant to be CoD4. :P Its just a different game, and all that missing isn't the hit reg, just the awful freaking iron sights and the random deviation. Hit reg is almost perfect.

You guys just wait for BC2, it will probably be something like a CoD4 + BF2.

Re: My thoughts on 1.5 thus far

Comparing BF2 hit reg to CoD4 is like comparing apples or oranges so to speak.

The size of BF2 maps compared to CoD4 maps and the player count should say a lot. The smallest BF2 map (in 16 player) is around the same if not bigger then any CoD4 map. Not to mention CoD4 only has to deal with infantry where as BF2 has both vehicles and infantry in generally a much larger space then CoD4.

Now, I'm not saying BF2's hit reg is spot on (though I can't speak for 1.5, still downloading it.) and I'm not saying they couldn't have done better, how ever it could always be worse.

Having played Operation Blue Something in beta and assuming they didn't reduce the fog any. I can easy say there is WAY to much fog.

As for the other changes, I can't really comment as I haven't played on the new patch yet.

Re: My thoughts on 1.5 thus far

I downloaded the patch with BitTorrent and this link

                  ^^And yes, it's legit^^

Downloaded in less than an hour at 1.1mb/sec.:yay:

Thoughts on the patch? Well....lets face it, there aren't really any new maps. If you played the 1.5 beta patch you've realized how much Operation Pearl Necklace is redundant. Except for the people who got the free boosters. And in that case AF Rocks as always and Operation Smoke Screen is all I EVER cared for in EU. :hmm:

                  Moving on.

                  TRUE WIDESCREEN SUPPORT!!!!!

This is what I was truly waiting for in all honesty. I am running 1920x1080 and hated the way "Widescreen Fixer" stretched my screen all out. So that change alone makes it a great patch for me.

Granted, people argue about BF2 vs COD 4/5 for hit detection......they aren't the same engine whatsoever.....they will never be the same. What I CAN say is that the hit detection for "BF2" standards has gotten a lot better than it had been in the past. People actually die when you shoot them now....who woulda thought.

I do like the minor changes DICE made such as the inverted TV missle screen.....it took them this long to figure that out?....Honestly?..... And the blackhawk is somewhat back to it's original rape-age (Ala 1.1) So that's just.....great.

Game DEFINITELY LOADS to a map much faster....my 8GB of ram was just getting wasted....probably still is. :/

but the most thoughtful, glorious, and welcomed change in the FINAL PATCH FOR BF2 was.....

                  ...

                  ....

                  NO CD NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

....about time....if you have a unique product key....why need it.

                  That's just my .02

Sorry if I pissed any COD fans off.....I love those games too.....just diff game.

Thanks for the torrent link. I hope it works because I got to 1.6GB on Fileplanet then it quit.

I have used this as my shortcut to get widescreen support. I guess I won't need that now?

                    C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1440 +szy 900

p.s. Torrent link says this is 1.50 Beta1.exe. WTF?

Wont need the shortcut. You can choose it in the video menu now.
Torrents are now doubt the way to go. I got the patch in an hr.

Sorry about that bad torrent link...

                        Here's the FULL 1.5 patch

                        http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5075...ontactwar.com_)

And no, you won't need those shortcuts commands any longer...in fact...I would delete them after the patch. For me I was having to run 1600x1200 Res (which my monitor didn't support) then using WidescreenFixer to change it to a 16:9 ratio....the POV was ALL screwed up....much better now though

Now get off your high horse and go back to CoD4 if you can't play BF2 without crying about it
I have noticed this "deviation dive" fix doesn't really do anything for snipers....however I guess using a single shot through a scope is the tradeoff.

And I agree TOTALLY!.....Why are the COD punks even ON this board?!

Now the prone deviation is pretty much when you drop prone it takes a sec before you are 100% accurate ? So instead its better to crotch and fire ?

Yes it's better to "Crotch" and fire.. hahahaha

But I believe it's a .5 accuracy penalty after going prone....someone correct me if I'm wrong.
