"The BF3 he wants" = big-*** maps, tons of players; big-*** maps, tons of players = higher system requirements, so his statement isn't really that inane.

"2 gig ram will be min requirment" really? 2gb minimal requirement is okay ? I dont think so. 2gb recommended maybe but not minimal lol. Dont get me wrong my machine is more than capable, but requirement like that wouldnt be good for sales. Crysis had 0,75 GB as minimal requirement.

Yea, but try playing Crysis on 750mb RAM lol, doesn't work well at all. They always low ball you on min specs.

I think 2GB would be fine for a standard gaming.

Crysis has great optimisation on low resolution and low graphics settings you can play it with low end pc. As I said 2gb recommended is okay (they wont go higher because of 32bit windows limitations)

32 bit vista is 3.2 gig support

new windows 7 32bit is 4 gig support as std

Wrong, 2gb per process in 32bit windows.

It's not necessarily 3.2GB. Basically, in all 32bit OS's, the max RAM is 4GB, but it deducts other memory from the total amount of system memory.

So, if you have a 1GB graphics card, you'll probably only see 3GB RAM or less.

there is also a page file and virtual memory to factor in ?,it not like a game or process cant use any more than 2 gig ram

I think on XP processes were limited to a max of 2GB RAM (I think). The page file is held on the hard disk, not the memory.

Basically, if you want to PC game, 64bit is the way forward.

64bit is the way forward, period. I work at best buy, and I'd say about 85% of our laptops and desktops are 64bit vista or 7. Generally, the only ones that are still 32bit are systems with vista basic, 7 starter or XP (couple remaining non-win7 netbooks). Most of the systems with those versions of windows are usually netbooks, or cheap weak laptops/desktops.

I think most recent games are Pentium 3.2ghz and above. They are pretty awful CPU's now :p
