I would just like to find a server that is running the campain missions as co-op or is that even possible?

When you launch the singleplayer campaign there is an option to host it. Yet another weird design choice by Bohemia Interactive

But once I hosted it would it show up in the server browser for others to see and join?

yeah it will. Chances are it will show up on the browser as :

            Stilla-killa on Stilla-Killa PC (players 1/4)

or whatever your real name is/the PCs name. This basically means Local game run on Stilla-Killas own machine. It does work and its good fun. You need to get some friends to play it with you on ts or something. It would be impossible using ingame txt.

So Mick, are you in Europe? I didn't know if I bought the game if I would be able to completely suffocate your server and TS until I knew the game inside and out. :p I don't imagine my American ping would look to nice on a Euro server though.

And my game crashed again. :S

Yeah. Ping isnt that important for ArmAII. It is one of the few games which latency is compensated for by bandwith. For example say me & you were on the server. The server would send me 100kb packets of info and it would send you 200kb packets of info to compensate.

Secondly its not the kind of game where ms twitches are an issue. You might go a long time seeing someone and you wouldnt be blitzing around towns 'fraggiin out'. The game player is much much slower.

We have a decent contingent of American players, many of whom are new to the game as they were dazzled by the graphics but didnt really know what was what. Theres usually a contingent of them on TS around 8EST.

See, if I was to play this game, I would want to be in something like Charlie Foxtrot. I checked out the FAQ on that page and it sounds really fun.

Mickd, thanks for the info. Good to hear you can play internationally like that. Now, I have to figure out why my game keeps crashing after about 10 mins before I would purchase the full game...

Rumor has it that Vista is the absolutely worst OS to run the game on. Dont you have a Win7 installation you could try?

Info for those of you using crossfire.
Apparently Arma is really bad at detecting them under win7 and possible Vista, so you should add the option -winxp to the shortcut.

I did a benchmark with Fraps, running the same distance in the bootcamp. I think the numbers speak for themselves:

                        Standard
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
                        438, 13257, 26, 38, 33.039

                        With -winxp
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
                        664, 12901, 30, 61, 51.469

                          Re: Arma 2

I don't want to fanarkle with my OS at this time. So it's a Vista problem mehbeh? Maybe it's the similar problem I have with F.E.A.R. I thought I'd finally play through that one day, and when I tried it a few months ago...I was like wtf? It looked worse than when I had it on my old machine even though everything was set to high. Come to find out, it's a Vista issue. I really haven't had any problems with Vista like the majority say, just a few things here and there.

I guess I can try turning down my settings some, but I was fine when I played SP with all high settings on ArmA 2, it's mp that keeps crashing my entire game.

I don't run crossfire, but that is quite the diff in fps.

You can just make a dualboot. Currently I have two XP and two Win7 installations (and a Linux that Win7 conveniently "forgot" to include in the bootmanager)

I couldnt run the demo in XP without graphic glitches and crashes, but it is much more stable under Win7 RC1 64 bit.

Hokay, I've built PCs and such, but I've never done a dual-boot. Linky poo to instructions and to ^that version of Win 7.

                                http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win.../download.aspx

Just install it on another partition than your primary OS, it should then create a bootmanager by itself.

Othervise there are plenty of guides, like this http://www.techspot.com/guides/143-dual-boot-windows7/
