We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.
While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.
Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
I am not sure that I agree. There were maps in BF2 and COD4 that played a lot like this. Semi-open terrain where the rifle was king. The problem is that the only maps being played now are CQB maps.
I think that Arma may be an option for those who like BF/COD but are tired of seing everybody running around like bunnies on speed, while spraying lead all over the place.
So far I havent really been able to try multiplayer enough to decide if I like it. Everybody seems confused, and I am killed more by my own side than by the enemy. And of course the only reasonably populated server is running deathmatch
If you like cod4 and bf2 because u like it even with super speed and all u wont like Arma. In cod4 i can run and stop with the m4 instantly and have almost dead on accuracy in full auto. i like that and i think a lot of people do. arma is not like that at all. The graphics in Arma 2 really arent good. Im playin in Very High and textures are HORRIBLE. I MEAN THEY ARE SO BAD.
Hmm. Vreki, are you still using the demo? If so, perhaps you'd like to PM me if you have Xfire. I'm in Australia, so it might be a bit laggy, but if you join me we could play a few proper games together.
ArmA is a brilliant game when played properly. The problem however, is the fact that it is a free demo - anyone can try it, and you'll find a lot of people new to the game. That isn't to say the full game has no noobs. It does, albeit probably fewer in quantity.

.
I dont currently have XFire installed on my Win7 (I reinstall Win7 at least a couple of times each week )
But I play the demo through steam, so you can catch me there. Although there seems to be quite the time difference.
Okay, finally tried the demo out yesterday, but I only got to play through the first sp mission. I will try to explain this fully with points.
Pros:
-War 'feel', the atmospheric setting of war I guess you could say.
-Being able to shoot looooong distances.
-My breathing and no sprint limiter b/c you a real soldier that doesn't get tired after 10 freakin' secs like in every other game.
-Being able to crawl over things like small ledges, bushes, etc instead of having to 'hop' over.
-Camera bob b/c I have always hated CoD's 'hover' moving, I miss MoH.
-Less 'speed' insanity. While I myself can be known as a corner-jumper, bunny hopper, and more sometimes in the CoD world, I do it b/c it works and if it's in the game use it. However, I PREFER to outsmart my enemy in FPS games which is why for example in CoD4 and CoD5, after playing for a while, I usually switch to my 'sneaky' kit so that I can outsmart my enemy instead of just being a good shot or on speed. Intelligence can easily win over a fast finger b/c it doesn't matter how fast it is if they never saw you.
Cons:
First two points are HUGE cons for me personally.
-As has been said, the voice acting is atrocious. My leader sounds like a robot, the lines were bad, and most of the time the talking just made me more confused as it did not correspond to what was going on around me.
-The bobbing...I mentioned it as a pro, but it is a HUGE bob and I literally started to get sick. (And I never get sick from things like this). I believe the blur added to making me sick.
-WTF is going on?!?!? lol! I have 50k keys and the HUD is no help, the voices don't give me guidance, I go to the marker on the screen, but nothing happens for 5 mins. We randomly killed a few guys, mission over...okay. I think I could have stayed at the beach and picked my nose and we would've still won the mission. In real life war, yes, it can be confusing, but not in this way. Your fellow soldiers and you at least work together instead of doing the robot dance and spouting off in the same voice...maybe not a robot, more like Shatner...same diff I guess.
Now, these are only a few pros and cons, and I am still going to give this another chance with the other sp mission and some mp, which I imagine mp will be more what I'm looking for anyway. I was trying to grab some experience from the sp so that I wasn't a complete nub in mp.
I am not giving up on this game yet. I'm not just 'hating' on it, 'it's stupid and has problems, I'm done with it', nothing like that. But, this game is kind of complicated imo. I believe this is one of those games, like other things in life where I need someone who knows what they're doing to get on a vent with me and do a run through/play some together and guide/teach/instruct me on how things work, what to do, etc, AND THEN, I believe I could enjoy this game.
Knowledge is knowing the experience of others. I believe I need that for this game to work for me. SO, any offers? :) I'm in the central US. I have a good chunk of games I'm going to be wanting to buy this year, and I don't just splurge my money, so a game right now has to really wow me and stay that way for me to purchase it.

Turn of "post processing" in advanced graphics for a better experience. And you can reduce head bobbing too, I think that was under game options.
I also experience "WTF?" for the MP part. In fact one of my first WTF is the mechanism for joining games. Whats going on? What does it want me to do? WTH doesnt the game begin?
And after the game starts its back to WTF is everybody?
I havent given up on the game yet by far, but they really should have run it past a couple of professional interface designers.
in my opinion the way to get the best out of the game is to join a serious/semi serious group and play organised events, when it works its EPIC
And THAT is what I want to experience b/c from YouTube vids from people, and from my short experience, I can see where there would be 'epic movie moments' that I want to live.
It seems this game is popular among the English, or at least in our forums. Any ArmA 2 experienced Americans want to teach up a nubcake? :p
I can see the potential of the game if you get with some friends and play the co-op missions together. But I can not stand the voice acting. It ruins the whole game for me.
I have played the first ArmA loads so when I got ArmAII I already knew what it's all about.
I can see by many posts that people a bit miffed about the single player and how it actually works.
You have to remember while this is a FPS style game, its a simulation game. And in simulation games there are correct ways of doing things.
When I see someone say "I was playing and didnt know what was going on because it didnt tell me", what happened when you fisrt played a COD game? Im pretty sure the instructions are a bare minimum other than point and shoot, thats it. Granted this game is a little bit more complicated but the best approach to this game is not to run all over the place shooting at anything that moves. You should use strategy move with your squad basically go back to being a child and pretend your a soldier ducking for cover and using tress as cover and so on.
If you want too counteract the bobbing motion, just get drunk like I did, it made the whole experiance more agreable. although I did die twice and I was playing on the easy setting.
ArmAII has a load more to offer other than what you see in the demo, or youtube videos, its a work of art.
Iv not yet worked out the multiplayer because I passed out before I could but I will give it a bash and I shall post again.
Check the link for the Charlie Foxtrot here. 60 players before the server crashed. Not a USA server, so I'm not sure about the ping. And, he might have it for the full game also then.
I need to give this demo another go in the next couple of nights.
