It is completely unplayable. When it doesn't crash it looks like this or worse:

It works better under Win7, so here are some screenshots for those who asked.
As for the game itself, I might have liked it if there was some kind of respawn, but games without that has always been 90% boredom to me.

I havent been able to get into an online game yet, but I assume it has the same problem.

There are respawns online, and you usually have to wait about 15 seconds

the voice acting is horrible, but there are mods changing them, there is also voice recognition software where you can control a squad with just voice.

I have been accepted into a squad, first co-op game in half an hour, ill report back what its like

I played Arma1 demo and I have the Arma2 demo but I just dont like all the realism. I have nooo idea whats goin on or how to do it. If u like realism then I'd say this is the perfect game for u. But if u like BF2 and cod4 i wouldnt buy it.

I am not sure that I agree. There were maps in BF2 and COD4 that played a lot like this. Semi-open terrain where the rifle was king. The problem is that the only maps being played now are CQB maps.
I think that Arma may be an option for those who like BF/COD but are tired of seing everybody running around like bunnies on speed, while spraying lead all over the place.

So far I havent really been able to try multiplayer enough to decide if I like it. Everybody seems confused, and I am killed more by my own side than by the enemy. And of course the only reasonably populated server is running deathmatch

You ppl need to get better PCs or setups. Haven`t crashed once and noticed a single graphics glitch.

Whats the point in playing on high anyway, its not as if you will be able to see more than 100m anyway due the insane amount of blur.

There is a very long thread in the official Arma2 forum about people having problems with the game on 4850s, so its not just a question about upgrading.

I was able to disable all post-processing effects in options, so I have no motion blur. I was a bit surprised that it was possilbe to disable it in multiplayer, who would want to play with such a handicap if the opponent can just disable it on his side?

And a nquestion: Can anybody explain how the mechanism for joining MP games is supposed to work?
Often I join a server with free slots, but then I am stuck at that "choose side" screen, unable to enter the game. Its like the game is full despite having free slots.

if you see a spot click it, it should put you into that spot and just click ok.

BTW ive just finished my first game with VCB (Voluntary Commando Battalion) it was epic, proper teamwork, and co-ordination.

Any one want to join, its preliminary British, you will have to go through an interview and "Basic Training", but its a good bunch of lads with a really dodgy sense of humour.
