Whiskey, on the other hand, I feel as though people would frequently complain about being killed through a wall/smoke and it would lead to banning. With the younger community playing the game it just doesn't work out most of the time and ends up being a "hackussation fest" because of it.

Just personal experience here, but I'm sure it has happened to others. Take Call of Duty 4 for example. A more experienced player enters a server and knows how to effectively shoot through smoke/objects, and does quite well because of it (example here, not bragging!). The newer players - who are the majority - begin to complain and, because of it, often get the attention and sympathy of the - once again, quite often - less experienced admin who issues a ban.

If it is used properly, key word being properly, it shouldn't be an issue - although I still would prefer that it be left out. I'm just speaking from experience when I say that the killcam often leads to trouble and complaining, and if a person wanted to learn (later on) what had happened, maybe review a demo of some sort.

kill-cam is good for smaller maps, mainly infantry, games like COD

think bf has enough new features to cause more than enough problems

Kill-cam in a game like BF would render the sniper class totally useless.. It's hard enough as it is having comanders arty and drop jeeps on us whenever the chance may arise let alone having every person we kill know exactly where we are..

No, Kill-Cam in BF is a stupid and un-thinkable idea.

P.S. Whiskey have you ever played sniper class? Don't forget this game has been out for a few years now and those "hiding" spots are now public property (even to newbies).

I move around constantly in this game and I still cop the occassional jeep and arty attacks.

If you want to see what happens in a match play on a server that saves the BR.

I personally almost never play as a sniper class in any game, unless it's to take out one specific person that I can't reach any other way than with a scoped rifle.

Your second statement just isn't accurate though. For those who have been playing for yrs, yes, they know many of the spots. But by definition newbies are new to the game...unless they've been doing their own research reading forums/websites or watching YouTube vids (which most do not do), then they do not and cannot know where those hiding spots are.

Interesting comment about being arty'd or having vehicles/supplies dropped on you. But I'm guessing in order to do that, the Commander first has to manually find your red blip with the UAV? If that's so, he's doing "work" to find you, and he's using precious resources to get 1 specific person, so that balances out.

I just can't buy the argument that having a cam will render the class useless, or hurt it significantly. Most of the time, even if you know where a sniper is, unless you have the protection of a vehicle, it's very hard to even get close enough to deal with him with most weapons due to the long reach of his rifle, and the visibility of the scope. If you have 2 snipers in the same area, covering different fields of fire, it's even harder to even approach where you can see them.

Without trying to insult you (and I think you know that :) ), IMO you're the example I wrote about above of a successful sniper who doesn't want to lose any advantage. That's understandable; I wouldn't either. I think that in general, there are too many people playing as snipers in games, because it's "cool" and from all the frag vids they've seen. Because it's so powerful, I'd like to see it be harder to use, so that only the most skilled would play it.

Re: Do you want a kill cam

The snipers biggest threat in the game is ofcourse other snipers, What you said about holding down one position as a sniper just doesn't happen. If another half decent sniper knows where you are then you are dead no matter what. Due to the maps vastness in size a singled out sniper can be approached and killed from hundreds of different locations. The main tactic I use in the game is long distance, if I get shot and I know where the guy is I will usually out shoot him from a further distance of around 300-400+ meters. Having kill-cam to help guide players like myself will make sniping incredibly difficult, especially on the slower moving maps like Dragon valley and Dalian Plant.

I'm not a skilled player in this game, I have enough trouble trying to flee from the scene of a crime before the same sniper or infintry comes back for revenge, having kill-cam will not only pin point my location but make it twice as hard to escape. You have to remember a lot of the time snipers are taking the shots from a bush in the middle of an open field or from a cliff top on a map like Dragon Valley and Kubra Dam so escaping places like that takes a few minutes.

I strongly suggest you give the sniper class a go, I guarentee you will enjoy it and you will probably be able to get a better understanding of just how hard it already is.

P.S. As for the commanders, If they spot a sniper they will arty you and drop jeeps on you I have even had a few try to crush me with supplies xD I would have to say 70% of the time if I'm in a good spot like a cliff top then I will be artyed or jeeped even if the servers full and thriving they still waste the resources for one sniper. It's VERY frustrating.

P.P.S. I haven't even got 200 hours of sniper play time up my sleeve yet and I knew pretty much all the decent hiding spots a long time ago, It's mostly common sense that tells you where they are and or will be.

whiskey, sat scan is usually best used to pick out snipers and only have a 30 sec. recharge. UAVs aren't usually used to find snipers, it's the sat scan instead.

Re: Do you want a kill cam

I personally don't fear the kill cam. If I'm defending a certain point and kill someone, I expect they'll be coming back for me. I'll move slightly, or significantly, to reposition myself to catch them again if/when they come back. If I'm sneaking and come across someone, I'll change my route, at least temporarily, again to throw them off/ambush/trap them.

Thats only because you know the cam exists. So you know, they now know where you were.. so if you are pseudo camping and trying to exploit noobs, that works to your advantage.. the fact that they think they know where you are and come rushing in.

Either way its a feature based around noobs.

Kill cams have no place in a large game like battlefield where you might have a gopher in place to spawn off of. Nevermind, why have prone or sniping in a game with kill cams.

I hope dice doesnt waste one day of programming time to ever add the kill cam trend to BF games... They really serve no purpose at all

If people wanna know where you are then they can just spectate/freecam spectate. It's a much better way than using the killcams.

They already have a type of killcam in BF Heroes. It's mainly used for taunting someone after you kill them, but it's there.
But any time I'm sniping or camping at all, I move around. I assume someone saw my muzzle flash or heard the shots and is now gunning for me. So, killcam or no, I always move between kills.

There are no Spectating and freeroam cams in BFBC which is frostbite.
Since 1943 and BC2 use frostbite im hoping these games are more like BC1 than anything else Dice has produced.

Yeah back in the day, Roger Wilco and a free cam was all you needed to own a server. We used to call it ghosting, In RB6 matches my clan had a dedicated ghost. The opposing force never had a chance with our guys knowing everything about them, even when they were taking a dump.

I really hope Dice reads this.. id like to explain myself a little more.

Half the fun for me while playing BFBC is not knowing from where or how I was killed unless it was face to face..

If Im going up against someone and I get sniped from behind.. I like to have to go hunt the guy that did it. Since he may or may not know what I know about him or his behaviors in game.. It can be rewarding on different levels.

Another example is, even if your not killed, no one can tell you whats going on over VOIP.

One fine day on the battlefield I was part of a squad assaulting a hilltop village. It wasnt going well and we were all pinned down and not advancing far. So I starting sniping from a deep hole in the ground left by arty fire.

All of my squad mates spawning on me would get about 100 yards max before they were down. Over the radio I hear nothing but fustration.

Noticing that most of them are getting sniped I start to wonder where in the heck is this guy. No one can tell me..

Just then afew rounds snap passed my head.
I duck, Then I pop up again to take a look..
Arrrghhh ! I get hit as I round slams into my shoulder..
The hit indicator shows it was from my Six !!

I spin around knowing he had to have high ground..
There he is in a second story attic with a small hole to shoot from.

I see him finish reloading but it was to late for him, his killing spree just ending.

As you can see, theres already enough crutches in place.. without the hit indicator i would be just another victim.

From the time he first shot and used up the clip in his semi auto... to the time it took him to finish reloading was all the time I had to find and finish him off..

I won because I had a bolt action.. with a better zoom.

Thanks to the audio frostbite provides, it saved my life..
The sound of rounds flying by or hitting the ground is 2nd to none!
After I knew i was spotted and being shot at I didnt stay still for a second.. But the fact that I knew he was a sniper from kill chat, knew it was one guy from the kill chat
                                Didnt help him out.
I never saw his tracers or muzzle flash which would be fair.
He was to far away to hear the report.

He was a good sniper, and it could have gone either way.. The round was over soon and I never saw him again..

It was one of the most satisfying sniper vs sniper moments ive had in BFBC..
And kill cams could have ruined it for either of us...

Kill cams would ruin the game for me, because I "might" act on the information provided with them....

Instead of 2 snipers zoomed in on each other, one frantic to find the other one and one frantic to reload.
I would have heard some noob say... Sniper behind us in that house's attic..
and not because he was beaten to the punch and did the recon on his own
but because some auto kill cam told him wtf is going on..

Result: (Shoot the other sniper while he's looking in another direction.. wooo hooo GG's ;/

Theres no reason to "consolize", "arcade" , "dumb down" or noobify games anymore than they already are.

Kill cams are just that.. one more thing to let the player know whats going on because most noobs couldnt fight their way out of a wet paper bag
