Re: Dolphin Diving Fix in 1.5 BF2 Patch voting

The prone delay idea (while initially sounds like a good one) would screw up the support class who relies on being prone to hit his target. That is why the 2142 support weapons get more accurate the more rounds fired.

To me my definition of dolphin diving is jumping in the air and going prone while in the air. The 1.12 patch only stopped the ability to actually shoot while in the air it didnt stop you being able to go prone while in the air. The new prone delay does. :)

I find the best way of staying alive (instead of n00b bunny hopping of spaz fish diving) why not just kill your opponent first ?? I find it works for me and I have a decent enough k/d. Lets see how the 'leet' players who cant live without the dd and bh c*ap play now. More kills to me I feel :)

To the people that use the term dolphin diving...

Please do everyone a favor and stop playing BF2. Go play hello kitty or some ****.

Dolphin diving is LONG gone.. and the game is already nerfed enough as far as infantry movement.

As soon as they break out of that and use macros or hacks.. They are cheaters. Do not confuse a good player for a cheater/macro user.

As for the people (casual gamers) telling competitive ("dolphin divers" [notice.. quotes]) to "adapt" to the changes... Go play BF2 v1.0 and compare it with 1.41. We already have ADAPTED to the (insane/half-assed) changes (catered towards new players). You can ADAPT to the changes made almost three YEARS ago.

I think everyone can agree on this:

Stop trying to change gameplay (and probably just INCREASE glitches and bugs) and fix the glitches and bugs you caused a LONG time ago

With that, I leave this video

I can't believe how close the poll is. I could live without being able to jump-prone (hesitantly) but making it impossible to jump through windows is just ridiculous!

What happened to games that just came out and were what they were? Sure, they might get a patch to include D3D support or to fix actual bugs, but I can't recall any other game that has seen so many changes (and such ridiculous ones).

And if anyone hasn't noticed, the game is rated TEEN. So all of the kids 12 and under who voted on that poll can just go play Hello Kitty Secret Island Adventure.

Wow...lot of people giving Hello Kitty some major props in this thread.

As for screwing up the support class, the whole point of the class is support, and not frontline fighting (that's generally what Assault is for). The advantages of the support guns is either fast-firing (Type-95, SAW) or raw power (RPK, PKM) at the cost of mobility. Insta-prone removes the mobility problem. The guns all have bipods on them if you'll notice, indicating that maybe they're meant to be a more stationary weapon (i.e. prone), but if you can hit prone at will and instantly have the same accuracy you'd have if you'd been prone and defending for a few seconds, it's essentially just an assault rifle with 100+ rounds.

As for the 2142 LMGs, they used to be overpowered, because as soon as you'd hit crouch you'd have awesome accuracy already, then combine that with the accuracy increase you get from holding down the trigger, those things were absolute beasts even on the move. Now they make it so you have to at least stop and steady yourself before shooting them if you hope to have a decent amount of accuracy, otherwise you'll probably have to overheat your gun to get a kill, meaning it's more of a defensive supporting weapon than an assault rifle. For support troops that want power AND mobility, that's what the Clark is for, but with that you sacrifice range.

in that time some damn near 50+ people have registered and voted for .7 narrowing the gap to 52/47....in 18 hours.

Basically .7 folks are LOL EA spoofing accounts to sway the vote imo.

Re: Dolphin Diving Fix in 1.5 BF2 Patch voting

Considering dolphin diving/bunny hoping was never intended to be in the game in the 1st place.
It's people that can not play the game as intended, who are voting to allow this tactic.
Same as single seating, sorry to piss in peoples' CornFlakes, but alot of BF vets left BF2 because of the bugs/exploits Dice did not want to fix.
About time they make some type of adjustments to a once, very popular game.
EA/Dice has never really supported BF2 the way, it should have.

In my opinion, it's not the ability to dive quickly that was/is the problem. Take Call of Duty 4 for example, you can prone nearly instantly, but you don't see it being used nearly as much as in Battlefield 2 - why is that? Well, as I'm sure all you Battlefield vets already know, BF2's hitboxes aren't exactly spot on, and that coupled with lag means diving gives you a significant advantage in terms of the probability that you don't get hit.
I'm honestly fine with "dolphin-diving" or however you would like to call it, personally I prefer prone-spamming, but it needs to be fixed (if it hasn't already) so that your hitbox follows you correctly and doesn't lag behind at all, giving you an unfair advantage. Like I said, there's no problem with diving in Call of Duty, mainly because the hitboxes are much improved over those in Battlefield 2 - and if Battlefield 2 could set a similar standard, I don't foresee any more complaints with the issue.

i dont know how people can argue to keep dolphin diving, thats plain retarded.

The difference between casual players and competitive players, is that casual players just play (and usually get destroyed by people that have put a lot of time into the game, and then complain. Dolphin diving is not getting the most out of the engine/game mechanics.
Its an exploit, avoiding crouch and hitting the floor and being able to slide a few feet is ********.

Yes competitive players try to get as much out of the game mechanics as possible but not through exploits.
A clever game mechanic is bunny hopping (not in bf2 cuz thats just plain ********). Go play CS where using the game mechanic actually takes skill, not just pressing a button every few seconds to avoid getting shot. :)

Am I the only one who's glad they kept the original gameplay in 1.5?

What's "Mouse wheel acceleration" on jeeps, APCs, and chutes?

Will the desired effect of prone-spamming not be nerfed anyway by the improved hitboxes? All that jumping, proning and spazzing about was to make your animation appear in a different place from your hitbox so if they have fixed that then the movements of a player will have less defensive effect, no?
