wouldn't a simple shot or two from a pilum suffice to handle a parked transport?

This is going for some time back, but from your position, supposing you stayed alert you would see incoming attacks from quite a distance leaving plenty of time to switch seats and deploy the counter-measures or to flor off to another roof in the vicinity.

I'll tell you my honest way of getting a best kill streak: don't try.

Whenever one chases after an award, he ceases to contribute to his team. Yes, some situations will lend themselves well to getting a BKS, but you shouldn't run after these situations like mad. Stick to your strengths and what you do best. This alone will land you a BKS naturally, without any extra effort required.
