add +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +szx 1024 +szy 768 and remove everything else from the command line arguments to see if any errors come up.

Your laptop monitor is probably running at 59Hz refresh rate, that is the usual reason.

Yea try doing as TheHeartSmasher said, setting full screen to 0 should make it run in windowed and give you an error, I had the same problem for a while and it turns out after looking at my error and the video.con that somehow bf2 had changed my res to one that my monitor did not support and a higher refresh rate.

bout the only thing I've aver agreed with u on. But with a little TLC, vista can be customized into a decent OS for the redundant USER stuff. But for gaming it'll never be ideal.

Download and install this. Should fix it.

Also be sure to reboot after installation.

Vista's Stability and Performance is unsurpassed by XP. You can both jump off the vista hate bandwagon, it ended a long time ago. The fastest PC's in the futuremark top benches all run Vista, coincidence? Don't hate the OS until you actually try it.

Try this (please do not skip any steps or this whole post would have been in vain):

                          1) Go to Windows update and make sure your laptop is completely up to date. Setup automatic updates to ensure you are fully up to date all the time.

If you are not completely up to date, download and install all available updates. Reboot if prompted, and continue checking for updates until it says "Windows is up to date".

                          2) Download this driver:
                          http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/nvidia...8120_vista.exe

Double Click it and select Extract, but do not install it yet.

                          3) Download this INF File:
                          http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/infs/1...ta/nv_disp.inf

Put that file in the folder you extracted your drivers to and replace the old one.

                          4) Now Install the driver and reboot.

                          5) Try to play now, if issue persists, continue on...

                          6) Download and Install the Direct X tool you ran in my previous post.

                          Reboot when finished.

                          7) Try to play now, if issue persists, continue on...

                          8) Uninstall BF2 and its expansions/mods. Delete the Battlefield 2 Directory out of your Documents folder.

                          Reboot.

                          9) Reinstall BF2 completely and reboot once installed.

                          10) Download the 1.41 Patch:
                          http://files.filefront.com/Battlefie.../fileinfo.html

                          Install and reboot once installed.

                          11) Try to play now, if issue persists, let us know.

Before doing all that, plug in an external monitor that runs at 60hz and the game will probably run.
As for getting the game to run on the laptop monitor at 59Hz you will have to force it using nvidias software or rivatuner, powerstrip, reforce or whatever works.

no that is not his problem.

I have a vista laptop and my buddy bought the exact same as mine and we both can game hours on end with these lappys at max settings for a number of games including bf2/cod4/left4dead, well left4dead he plays but i think at all maxed settings.

The point is, is that it is not vista unless its not enough ram? Thats the major difference between his and my laptop and mine literally instantly loads/verifys games vs my desktop XP pro.

Although my specs are on all components better than is, I highly doubt vista is the sole cause for his issues.
