My Vista Laptop won't run bf2 :(

I bought a gaming laptop quite a while ago. It is a HP Pavilion dv9500t.

Specs:
512mb 8600m gs GPU
2gb ram
2x 200gb HDDs
Windows Vista Home 32bit
Intel Core 2 Duo t7500 2.20ghz CPU

My problem is, bf2 will not work, and i have tried everything i can think of, and have searched forums for a solution.

I have, "checked" run as an administrator, and "checked" compatibility boxes to run as XP SP2.

I have installed Punk Buster, and updated Punk Buster files onto my machine.

I am 100% sure that my graphic card driver is up to date.

I have even tried to load it while using the windows 7 beta.

It WILL NOT WORK . when i go to run it, it flashes my screen black, and there is a little "640x480" black flash on my screen and it closes down.

Does anyone have a solution for me? Is it vista? my laptop specs? do i need to get windows xp?

Please someone out here help me, this is a large bf2 community and someone out there must know how to help. Thanks.

right click on your icon/shortcut and add this to the end of the target line:

+szx 1920 +szy 1200

just replace the resolution numbers with the native ones for your laptop screen. i do believe the problem you are having is that bf2 isn't supporting your laptop screens native resolution.

my laptops native resolution is 1680x1050

would i put +szx 1680 +szy 1050 ???

also do i add that line to the shortcut or the .exe?

yes, youd put

+szx 1680 +szy 1050

in the target line. right click the shortcut and you'll see the target line, the first one, add one space to the end of whats already there, don't erase anything, then put in +szx 1680 +szy 1050. see if it runs then.

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +szx 1680 +szy 1050

it still doesnt work... the only change is that now the entire screen flashes black.

the disc starts to spin, the BF2 logo box comes up, the screen flashes black, and it closes

Make sure you uncheck the compatibility boxes to run as XP SP2. I don't have that checked in mine and it runs fine. I only have the run as administrator checked on mine.

having compatibility both checked and uncheck gives me the same result, black screen flash, closes...

also i thought it couldnt load the intro logo movies correctly, i removed those, still will not work with or without them

Uncheck XP mode, that made more problems with my BF2/142

having that box both checked and unchecked gives me the same result, a black flash on my screen and then it closes

I think its the video card driver or dx maybe?

My laptop is win vista and runs bf2 all maxed out with the 9600 GS.

Try running it in a lower resolution like 800x600

i installed that drive, no change, still black screen flash, and then it closes

But do the res in 1024x768 or 1280x720.

Whats the refresh rate of your lcd? maybe its too high in the settings, try lowering it to 60h.

Did you ever have bf2 running on this laptop before?

It really sounds like a screen issue to me, resolution and what not.

ps i know it sounds stupid but have you tried ctrl+alt+del and turn off all backround programs?
