    Re: F35b vs. J10

Today I was flying an F35 in DV when I got about 75 meters behind a J10 that wasn't flaring or taking any evasive action. So, "Sweet," I thought to myself, "what an easy kill."

To my disbelief, every missile I fired missed, and I'm pretty sure that wouldn't have happened if I was in a J10 and the other guy was in an F35. That's an imbalance for you.

I honestly wouldn't mind the j10's if it were f18's vs j10's only. With the right wing man in the 35's who can actually work with you it's not so bad. Mig vs 35's I have no issues with.

Im sure I read somewhere that some of the F35v's missile problem is where the heat source is situated on the plane (as well ans the bomber sized hit box). Beacuase of the VTOL its heat source is more towards the middle and not the back end liek every other plane making it easier forthe missile to track and hit.

All the need to do is reduce the hit box on f35 and move the heat signiture to the back like everything else and increase the skinny hit box on j10 a little or give us F22 raptors to play with :)

DICE didn't implement heat signature's into jets.

            Are you sure?

Plus since missiles will lock on to the oil towers on Zatar I'd imagine there'd have to be some kind of heat signatures to lock onto and track.

              Re: F35b vs. J10

Look, the point is that the jets have been this way since the game came out and that changing this may just cause more arguments and more problems than it will actually solve. If you wanna dominate the air without getting too frustrated, fly the J10. If you wanna be the underdog and always have a spare jet, fly the F35. If the jets were perfectly balanced I think it would be boring; but if you really want that just go steal one of the enemy jets!

There really is a fine balance at play between the two jets if you take the time to analyze it further than "I got owned by the J10 so the F35 sucks" you might realize that machine gunning a chopper with a J10 is harder than with an F35 but the J10s keep the F35s from running amok!

I guess I just don't see why a change is necessary. I mean we've all lived with this situation for the past three(?) years and those that were able adapted; those that weren't able complained. Sure I could adapt to flying an F35 against dumbed-down J10s but it wouldn't mean the same thing anymore; I like it because it's a challenge and you know what? I'm pretty damn good at it too. If you don't like the challenge go fly the J10 and leave the F35s for the people that like them how they are.

I know I know, what's-his-*Snip* says I'm just stroking my ego but really I just don't want to lose the last thing in this game that still gives me a rush! Think what you want about me, but I know who I am. Sure, I can be an аss and yeah I wanna be the best -but I don't wanna become the best just because some idiots complained until the game was made easier. Dig?

                Re: F35b vs. J10

I personally enjoy flying the F35B more than the J-10 as well, since it just handles more smoothly (and looks cooler on flyby and front cam :p ). Having said that, though, its missile magnetism causes a gross imbalance in the airpower on three maps. With Dalian and Dragon Valley it's not a grave issue at the start because the US either starts on land (DV) or starts on equal footing with China (Dalian). In the case of Wake, however, the fact that the J-10s can so effortlessly splash an F35 creates a major problem for the USMC since they need to be able to keep the enemy air power off their boats and Blackhawks to even have a prayer at making it to shore, to say nothing about acutally surviving once they get there.

In Wake 1942, the attacking team (Japan), not only had two mobile spawn points to counteract this, but they had the superior fighters (Zeros vs. Corsairs). So while the Allies had the advantage of starting the map with all the points, the Axis had the advantage of superior equipment, thereby balancing the map. Now with Wake 2007, the defending team has the tactical advantage AND the superior equipment. The imbalance exists on the other maps as well, but it's not as noticable as it is on Wake. I just think they need to either make the J-10 easier to hit with missiles (which would mean tweaking the F-18 also otherwise another imbalance would exist) or make the F35B harder to hit (which would mean tweaking the MiG-29 for the same reason). Jets should feel different and handle differently, but one shouldn't be able to avoid missiles by just flying level while the other one eats them like a fatman with a tapeworm.

Any map with MIG Vs F35 is evenly matched. Screw all the spawn points because if your in a jet, you could care less about which points are capped as long as your runaway/carrier is still yours. It's pretty bad on some maps like DV where the sky is so white and the J-10 is white, hence, if a semi-smart jet pilot were to run back to runaway for ammo or whatever, it would take alot of searching to find him. Although, I play DV like everyday and if I play china and the Z-10's are taken, even when the J-10 is free in the hangar, I'l only take it if I'm really bored and feel like going 300-0.

If the jets were perfectly balanced there might actually be some incentive for pilots to get better, which would lead to a more competitive and challenging environment. Instead, you have all these pilots who simply rely entirely on the ability of the plane instead of their ability as a pilot.

Sigh. Just drop the balance argument already. You're clutching at straws.

My main issue with the 'challenge' of F35 vs J10, is that it gets to the point that the deciding factor is no longer in your control. As I said in my previous post, you can outfly the hell out of some pilots, fire in excess of 20 missiles at them and they'll leave the engagement unscathed. What's the fun in that? All that work gaining the edge to have the deciding factor be almost entirely out of your hands. That's what irks me. I could care less about the superior turn rate, speed and afterburn time. All of that can be beaten with superior flying, but there's nothing you can do to increase your hit rate on them and ensure yourself a kill when you outfly them.

If you really want a challenge and are confident of yourself in a jet, you should look into the 1v1 dogfight scene. It's not for everyone and it's a lot different than jet pubbing. But the outcome is almost always decided entirely on your ability as a pilot and not that of your jet.

All this non-sense about the two jets being 'balanced' and finally you bring out the one argument that I cannot dispute. Personally, I don't care if they nerf the J10 or not, so I am not for the nerf or against it. You just attempted to make the statement that the jets are balanced when it is quite the contrary. I know how you feel about being an F35 pilot and you like being able to best J10's, I used to be the same way. Like I said, if you really want a challenge you should check out the 1v1 dogfight scene. If you like the air-to-air aspect and the concepts of dogfighting, you'll love it. If you're interested, PM me.

Too bad most pilots don't even realize when they've lost or are losing their airfield and continue flying about aimlessly. Even better is when they don't realize they've been capped out and are the only person on their team left alive.

This happened to me in a J-10, I tried my best to kill as many people on the airbase flag but there was just too many APC's/Tanks for it was literally just me left and like 30-32 opposing players trying to get me down in my J-10. The score was like 134(our team)-189 or something and I lasted all the way till our points went to 0, and I wasn't just flying around aimlessly. I was using guns only for stationary AA, chopper and jets. The hack accusations were hilarious.

The more I flew the J-10, the faster the rounds got boring to me. I've had trees and cliffs kill me on this aircraft more than any other weapons combined. Even though I'm probably going to crash into more trees and cliffs, I welcome the J-10 being nerfed in agility, at least then it would be a bit harder for the J-10 to lock on to the F-35 whose best defense is not getting locked in the first place.

Although in retrospect from other patches that nerfed vehicles, I wouldn't be surprised if the J-10 handled like the F-15 >_>

You're just trying to give credit to yourself for being a good F35 pilot. The next time you feel like patting yourself on the back please realize you don't need to make a thread to do so. Besides, you probably aren't that good anyways.

I would make your day hell in the J10. I am awesome, therefore your argument is invalid. Check mate.
