i dont know how you can make such a statement seeing:You know, the skills you speak of come in two forms: inherited and learned.
What you have are inherited skills, and you have zero right to be proud or egotistical about that; if anyone was to take credit for your ability to win so much, it would be your parents, not you.
.
1. i dont think you've ever played with me in this game or in bf2142, so...you dont even know if i am actually good or not.
2. you have no clue whether i've played 80 days worth of time in this game or 80 minutes worth..Comment

i could also add..
you get EVERYTHING from your parents/grandparents/ect.
how does your brain work? where does your motivation come from? why do you do what you do?Comment

Webs made perfect sense because he is intelligent and good at making well thought through arguments. You have a very large e-pen0r/ego and think you're better than everyone one else.

Re: 'tactical realism' servers rofl
Mods tweak the stock game to appeal to the niches of the players. You know, the skills you speak of come in two forms: inherited and learned.
My aim sucks. That is a plain fact of life. Each round, I'll come in about the middle of the pack, many times with a KDR lower than one. And you know what? I'm fine with that fact. Many servers cater to my style of play and despite my lack of inherited skill, FPS games still entertain me. You'll never find me throwing around hackusations because the fact that there are leagues of players better than I is blatantly apparent.
However, over time, my weapon control has improved, and I know where enemies typically hide. Those traits are learned skills. What you have are inherited skills, and you have zero right to be proud or egotistical about that; if anyone was to take credit for your ability to win so much, it would be your parents, not you.
In short, this game is made for the masses. The servers tweak the stock game to appeal to niches of players, like you and me. Find your niche and stay there; don't concern yourself with the rest of the servers out there.
Obscure and often hidden rules limit game features, and are constantly open to interpretation, allowing them to be often used as an excuse to kick someone for (Insert Reason Here).
The main reason they disguise or hide the rules, is because there are people out there who leave the moment they pop up. This is a major annoyance to server-hoppers like me who like to mix it up between HC, SC, 24/7 Maps, All-Maps, All S&D, All Dom, All TDM, All Sab, All HQ, and Various Mods. I don't have a niche. I dabble in everything, and some servers that I frequent on aren't always full all hours of the day...
... and very often (Things sure have changed since I last played CoD4) I get kicked because I don't know (Obscure Rule #43: No Chewing Gum while walking) which punishes me merely because I'm slightly more co-ordinated than slowmo-joe who can't handle his hubba-bubba when putting one foot forward.
I can't force myself to play according to the rules of Jim. I can't limit myself when I absolutely know I can do better. I refuse to handicap myself for the sake of somebody else.
I simply can not play a game without instinctively bunny hopping, and I've always been the one to rush in first. Of course doing so forces me to rely on my paternally given instincts to get me through tough scrapes... Thankfully doing so repeatedly has further honed said paternally granted skills by helping me to learn certain aspects that you just can't know right off the bat. Such as the common patterns of my enemies and how they react.
Then of course there are the countless other things you learn along the way, such as the maps, common camping spots, hidden perches, hideouts, fast-routes, flanking routes, routes with cover, what cover stops what bullets, how to avoid grenades, how to react when flashed/stunned, how to escape a situation when you're greatly out-numbered, how to lure an enemy by faking a retreat, how to lure an enemy into wasting his ammunition, how to properly position a flash/stun grenade, how to aim when flashed/stunned, how to aim when there are multiple enemies infront of you, how to aim when there are multiple enemies far apart from you, how to properly jump and prone across a corner without exposing yourself as an easy target, how to soften up a heavily fortified position with a well thrown flash, how to purposely run into your enemy so you can instant-gib them with the knife, how to quick-turn knife, how to jump-knife, how to use sprint to it's fullest...
Most if not all of these things would be considered against the rules on the TR server... I wouldn't last five minutes there if an Admin was on... Why are they considered against the rules? Hell if I know. Especially since I know there are already a great deal of CoD4 mods that offer more realistic game-play than stock. Of course, they're rarely if ever full....
So, obviously the people who run these servers aren't concerned about realism; they just want to fill their server up with less skilled players to be able to lord their power over them with obscure rules and lack-luster skills. They're no better than Digital Anarchy! and Doorman is God.Comment

this does NOT make sense. this is what he says "im not very good but i play alot so i've gotten a bit better because of all of my practice. You (me) are only genetically predisposed to being good. you cant have an ego about that."
However, over time, my weapon control has improved, and I know where enemies typically hide. Those traits are learned skills. so basically he tells me that i shouldnt feel good because i dont have to work hard to get good at certain stuff. what is this crap? all of the effort in the world doesnt mean anything unless you achieve some tangible results.
what is this? and then like i said hes making statements when he doesnt even have all of the facts. simply making assumptions.
then i've seen this more than once this guy webs jumps into a conversation and doles out some kind of body of text that he feels is some sort of conclusion or to "shut down" the situation.
if it doesnt make sense im not going to suck up to some guy that has admin powers because im afraid of getting banned or some crap. what kind of progress is made other than some person i dont even know doesnt think im an A-hole.
and then Dairuka the only other person that reads through the topic and actually posts something intelligent this guy kyle is like "sex." yeah nice one. real nice.Comment

Personally, I agree completely with you on the point of not liking said TR servers; I'm predisposed, like you, to jumping around and rushing forward and dying. That said, I also enjoy Project Reality, but for completely different reasons. CoD4 (and CoD5, being essentially a mod of CoD4) feel differently from BF2 and the like.
My question is this: Do you believe server owners and operators should be forced by the developers (or some other organization) to maintain a standard rule set (similar to the concept of the BFRoC)? I think that's what one of the principles of this thread was -- the lack of gameplay altering rulesets.Comment

Let's please stay focused on the 'topic' of tactical servers and such. There is no need for any personal attacks or remarks about another person.
Don't let a productive thread be shut down b/c of nonsense. Thank you.Comment

Don't be so cocky Usain Bolt. You're only the best because your parents passed down good genetic code.
It couldn't be that Jamaica's only pass-time is track, and that you've spent the better part of your entire life honing your abilities to better server your time on the track field.
They're on the same level as Knife & Pistol servers on BF2.My question is this: Do you believe server owners and operators should be forced by the developers (or some other organization) to maintain a standard rule set (similar to the concept of the BFRoC)? They're always going to exist, and I don't have to like them.Comment
