Yep, that would be the Mosin Nagant from CoD2 and CoD:WW respectively. :hmm:

I knew some of the textures weren't as good, but jeez, come on! lol The hand looks better in CoD:WaW :p

Or did this man do some trickery on us...>_>...nah, it's like that lol.

Well i have the Kar and i have to say that although the Kar has a lighter and slimmer feel to it, you CAN NOT beat the reliability of the mosin. I have had a few circumstances where i have shot people with SP with the Kar and not killed them in one hit when they were not using juggernaut. This never happened to me with the mosin.

I wondered about trickery. The thing is that the CoD:WW one looks like my 1953 Russian SKS before I dismantled it and stripped the oils and preservatives off the wood and put a stain and laquer on it. It then looked like the CoD:2 or UO stock.

We know treyarch, just like IW, got the weapons and looked at them all personally and made their models and skins based on them. If they were using a Russian Mosin Nagant that was younger than a WW2 model, it may have had the same junk put on it that my SKS had.

The scratches on the wood on the gas chamber makes me think that is the case.

Anyway, it was bugging me that people were saying that it failed and sucked when it looked like a gun that I actually own

We're talking about texture detail though. Here's another example:

I think it's quite obvious that CoD5 textures are lacking, even if Treyarch wanted them to look worn/dirty.

Have to agree, even though I can see what you are saying Crunch, I still think they should brighten them up, more contrast and just grunge/scratch the metal a lot rather than making it look realistically old and worn. You can barely see any of the Bump maps in WaW also as most of the guns are just so dark. I would rather see a gun that is not strictly accurate but looks the part rather than something that really does look like it has seen better times. I think most people will agree that CoD2 takes the biscuit out of all the CoD games (if only it had a rank system that kept after a round :) ).

Yea, I agree... it was the hardest, and I feel the most well made.

Very simple, but good. Most people don't realize that simplistic is better in most cases, especially in MP FPS.

                  Is that on max settings?

Yes, but both were taken with out any lighting effects on them to be more fair, but it does look much better with them.

This is outside in SP now though, MP still doesn't have the effect anywhere (for me at least):

CoD2 takes the cake (still in MP):

A bit, yeah. One possibility is that the compressed textures may have been done on purpose in order for the game to run better on mid-range PC's.

                          Re: Which Bolt Rifle?

right now i use only the springfield for sniping or just with a bayonet on bolt action only servers. i like it for the best accuracy like the m40 in cod4. i dont usually have a problem with not dealing enough dmg since i play on hardcore reduced health servers only.

it's too bad treyarch didn't just reuse the cod2 models and textures. those screen shots are making me want to install cod2 again and play some bolt action only.
