Ive mentioned this before elsewhere, but you can also block the door so others cant run away. The dogs will get them giving you time to get away.

The dogs frustrate in the respect that they are NOT slowed down by gunfire, they are faster than you when sprinting, the gang up on you which imo they shouldn't be able to and they "shell shock" you in the respect that getting bitten by one usually means your death because you cant run away.

Solution for the instant death: don't play hardcore.

What do you expect? They can kill you with one bullet, one bite should kill you instantly too

Im talking about softcore, i never play hardcore. If they didnt slow you down it would be so bad.

Tried knifing the ones that come close?

I mean, granted you might die from one or two if you are not careful (run behind teammates and let the teammates deal with them), but you actually die more from the helicopter than dogs

I honestly think i have died more from dogs already in this beta than i have the total amount of times killed by the chopper. Whenever i heard a chopper called i just stayed inside and kept away from windows, it wasnt that hard to avoid if you were careful.

What i dont like about the dogs is they slow you down, hunt you in packs, and sometimes come from behind your enemy lines giving you no time to escape. I end up sitting on a high shelf or heading straight for water.

I much prefer the dogs over the helicopter. It takes just a few shots or one knife to deal with a dog that's an immediate threat.

Of course you don't die from a choppers, if your only tactic is to camp in corners of buildings...

I have no problems killing 4 dogs in a row, just 3 accurate bullets kills them... Dogs are pack animals of course they will hunt as a group it's a good imitation of how they really act. Shell Shock... I have a 4000 DPI mouse I have no problem with stun grenades and shell shock, they are useless against me...

^^^ Well thats fine for you, but for those without its frustrating. And you say camp in the corners of buildings, but in CoD4 so much was inside you never had to. Maps like Bloc, showdown, crash, crossfire, backlot,vacant! All these maps you can go through all the buildings from one side to the other and not have to "camp" if a chopper was about.

I said stay away from the windows, i never said anything about hiding in a corner, if anything i hide in a corner for the dogs so i can only get mauled from one direction.

Another factor about the chopper is it could only be in one place at a time and it was visible on your HUD as to where it was located. If it was at one side of the map you could run around freely on the other side and have enough time to get to cover.

I think dogs should show up when you get a recon plane called in.

^ Just keep trying, and get more accustomed to the mindset of killing them close-up with your knife. The timing really isn't that hard once you "get" it. Most of the posts I'm seeing are players getting used to dealing with the dogs, and not fearing them as much.

I'm not a great player by any means, but I've gotten into the mindset now of actually going on the offensive and attacking them myself, before they can get to me. I had an awesome moment the other night where I saved 2 team-mates from 4 dogs (they had both been bitten once, but I got the dog before it got them a 2nd time, then I nailed the other 2 dogs before they could get to my injured team-mates, all with close-in knifing. Now THAT was fun.)

Again, the default setting is only 4 dogs on the map at one time, and they usually travel in a straight line with a gap between them. If you kill them quickly, then they don't have a chance to bunch up and attack in a group.

I dont shoot the dogs and i do knife them, im fine with them and i think they are a nice touch, i just think at the moment they are slightly overpowered, especially in modes such as HC, thankfully this will all be up to the server admins as to how much health, dogs or not, etc.

I personally hate the dogs, I think they should show up on your minimap if you have recon going. Otherwise you really don't know if one is coming up behind you. That's how I get killed by them most of the time, they get me from behind.

But you can hide from them, just like you could hide from the choppers. I just think they're much more cheap a kill than the chopper.
