Developers enjoy their work and besides it would appeal to a wider majority of people. Like solo said most the people wanting this are between the ages of 16-20+ which is the core of the gaming market.

I agree with the OP here, i have been brought up on great games, Wolf:ET where you could blow apart a man with a single grenade, HL2 where you could chop zombies in half with spinning blades, Undying, Unreal and the Tournament series. All huge sellers with their own amount of featured blood and gore.

I agree with alex that yes its only good when its needed. But as with BF2, i always get that slight disappointment when i pop someone in the head to see a puff of dust?

The current laws on video games are destroying such classics. Already we have seen countless video games this year taken back to the drawing boards because things were either "too dark" or "too realistic". Soon we will have our hands on GTA5 whereby shooting someone causes them to bleed hello kitty dolls then ascend to heaven.

Adding gore ISNT about adding realism. Since when did Unreal Tournament ever go through your mind as being real???

I am not a big fan of all the gore, but i dont mind if there is a red smear on the ground or the wall they were killed.

Legally the store isn't allowed to sell 18+ restricted games to minors.

Some parents DO follow the esrb rating, i know that for a fact. I said it will be less likely to run into a kid with a higher esrb rating than a lower, although it wouldn't amount to significant differences.

Gee thanks for using me as that benchmark... Now I just feel old

We all play games here, we are just discussing what we would like to see..

P.S It's between that age group where most the Gaming market relies..

i just thinks it's ridiculous to "dumb" down the effects of shooting someone in the face with a weapon and your gun launches dust packet's.

when i said melon effect i was thinking of the m95 in particular

i think people should be aware of the effects of actually shooting someone!!!!!

if anything it would make more kid's buy the game. everyone know's most parent dont enforce the Mature ratings.

maybe with the m24 their would be a clean entrance wound. but the back of his head could be used as a bowl :dead:

ohh yeah. its just silly to say that you like SHOOTING people but dont like seeing blood.

thats like saying i love drinking beer but hate getting drunk WTF?

Horror games are the only ones i care to see excessive gore use in.
Yeah because games shouldn't be about pointless and mindless violence.. oh wait.

Ever since the dawn of games people have strived for realism and now we have the gear to do it it's about time violence was perfected.

It adds to the atmosphere of the game imo.

Like others have said a quick change in the options menu can set the effects to your taste..
