    Re: CoD5 PC Beta?

The CoD2 style worked well, If it were up to me i would go back and look what worked with that system. I think 2 shots without jugger is fair enough in that 1) its a bolt so you have to 'de-scope' reload and bring it back up to your face 2) Close combat is going to be a *****. So, i do not see why bolts should not fit right into the game, they act similar to the G3 in CoD4 in that they give a nice halfway measure between a sniper and a close combat weapon.

Well, bolts (as in unscoped sniper rifles) should be 1 hit kill (except in hands/feet/etc.) - they pack a huge punch and therefore should be put ingame as so. Using one puts you at a great disadvantage in CQC, and most long range players would probably use a scoped rifle. Therefore, the advantage to using an unscoped bolt is the quicker zoom/heightened mobility with the gun along with the high damage... It worked fine in CoD2, why can't it work here?

However, other rifles (Garand and the like) shouldn't be 1 hit, for obvious reasons - and I see it being that way. But there is not a single reason in my mind as to why the snipers/bolts shouldn't be 1 hit kill. CoD4 (vanilla) nerfed the snipers enough with the ridiculous slow-scope and sway (sway is OK, but being drunk, no), why should their damage be toned down even further in CoD5?

Seriously, you put dogs, artillery, silencers, martyrdom, and all that junk in the game which unbalances it enough (along with lessening the skill required to score well) but you're afraid about making gun that actually requires talent to use powerful? I'm completely and utterly confused.

        Re: CoD5 PC Beta?

Very soon? Tomorrow or Friday maybe?

My friend got this message and sent it to me:

We are pleased to announce that in anticipation of the high demand for game servers day-1 of the PC Multiplayer BETA, we’ve joined forces with GameServers to provide a fleet of dedicated servers to be standing and at the ready the day-of the PC BETA release!

GameServers will have servers all around the globe for players to enjoy. Everyone should be able to find servers with great pings with the coverage we’ll have!

For anyone else interested in hosting servers, when the BETA is made available to the world to download, you can upload the files to your datacenters and run as many dedicated servers as you’d like. Hosting a CoD:WW server will not be too dissimilar to running a Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare server. Note that for the BETA, the servers will be Windows only. Linux servers will be available for the retail game.

We want to have as smooth of a day-1 kickoff as possible, and we hope that our combined forces will provide just that!

Upon further reflection, and some testing, I now believe the Bolt Action Rifles should be a 1-hit kill to the UPPER and LOWER torso as long as you have Stopping Power.

What I noticed during the playtesting of the latest update today, was that the opponent is obviously holding his gun in front of him a lot of the time. Exceptions include Sprinting and a brief moment of the player idle animation.

Thus, a lot of shots that I thought should of been one-hit kills to the chest with the revised tuning, were actually shots to the hands and arms. This is probably happening to you guys more often than you realize it.

It's reasonably difficult to hit someone in the upper and lower torso, as the hands and arms are in some ways, a type of shield.

I am not sure when I can get these changes into the game; but they will make it in eventually. Perhaps as early as the first title update.

If these changes end up not working because it makes the bolt actions too powerful or not powerful enough, I will revisit this topic again.

It's good that they're taking feedback and acting on it...that's what a Beta is all about. Unlike some other developers who think they know everything, and won't communicate properly either. This guy is quite good at engaging in intelligent debate in that one thread he has going. Long-term, that'll make them much better developers.

*Cough* EA *Cough* Good to hear though. There is a plethora of things that could be changed. Glad they are acting on some. Just wish they would take RoundHouse out of the 360 beta map rotation

It seems to have the most problems. Keeping it in theyve mentioned fixing a number of glitches on it.

I think it was a good thing they had it.

Yeah, I'm really surprised that he's kept this up for so long. He's actually listening to community input.

If only everyone would do this...

I can't reserve anything - I click "for all registered users" (I'm logged in) and I can't get any further than that.
