I dealt with this same situation not a week ago and was supremely annoyed by the nonsense I had to go through just to get my hands on a new copy of the install file. If you've activated NS on your account previously all you need to do is acquire the .exe by any means and install to play. No further activation or registration is required if your account is already NS enabled.

Do not purchase it again.

what is this .exe file? it's not in my ea link cache folder. just some weird numbers named folders and such. just backup the whole cache folder?

Explain WizardWarts what I gotta do. Download a Bf2142 ISO and copy the game .exe from someone and then use my gaming account to play? Dont I need a cd key? Or?

All you need to do is get a hold of the Northern Strike setup.exe and run it. It'll install where it needs to be, and then you're good to go. If you bought NS off EA downloader it's attached to your account or whatever so when you log in you should be all set, they don't give a rip how/when you install/reinstall it.

What ? I didnt buy NS, I bought BF2142, NOT NS..............

You will find out after a few reinstalls, formats, upgrades, installation to a laptop so you can game on the run, etc. that you reach your lifetime installation count which is about six I believe that should not exist and have to create a new account, then they re entitle the game to your new account which you should have never had to create.

If you don't upgrade, format, etc. I believe you will be ok, but that is only something the average pc gamer does.

sorry minmaster... updated my post with the rest of the folder locations. There is an exe that you are looking for it should just be named setup.exe

I've never had that problem. And I've reinstalled, literally, dozens of times. There must have been something else going on when this happened to you.

Of course, I've only reinstalled once or twice via EA downloader. Getting what I was entitled to from that... service... was like shoving butter up a wildcat's *** with a hot poker, so after the last ordeal I just copied the setup.exe to a disc and have reinstalled it from there ever since.

Oh. Well crap. Sorry. I just totally did not catch that. I bought 2142 on a DVD when it came out and nabbed NS off EA Downloader since at the time that was the only way to get it, and apparently I just assumed you had done the same. Looksl ike I instigated a bit of drama for nothing! Sorry all!

Get a BF2142 ISO and use Daemon Tools, then install the game with your CD key (that I hope you have saved somewhere)

Then get a BF2142 ***** crack (make sure it's for 1.5) and you are good to go.

^Hopefully that will work. Although if you have the mounted ISO already, it'd be safer just to launch from there, not the ***** crack.

The default location is

C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EADM\cache\random#\bf2142_bp1


Programdata is a hidden folder. Make sure to set windows to show all folders.

just copy the setup file to a cd then run it on your new computer.

There isnt a CD key on EA Link or Downloader for the games......Its a built in one you cant get too. If I had the CD key, I wouldnt be bitching and moaning.

Best bet is probably to complain to EA and complain loudly. You will likely need the credit card info from when you bought it along with name, address, email and all that stuff.
