they look awesome but they would have needed far better weather effects to replicate the look imo

The Engine can't do that, unfortunately. The weather effects they had in Bf2142 were still a nice step up from Bf2. Frontlines was sussposed to be great game however, there was little life in all the cities, it's all missing.
