The guy's been watching too much Bladerunner. The concept art is far too similar to the Movie's setting.

    Regardless, pretty impressive.

    Even more impressive:
2005-2006 japanese and thai language studies at folkhögskolan
    1999-2002 Naturescience at Rudbecks Gymnasium(highschool).

Errrr....no? Where are the high buildings, with flying cars cruising around burning towers and cola ads?

They are both dark, besides that there's nothing that connects it to blade runner. :|:

You don't need the high buildings, the flying cars, that's why it's called concept art.

The basic style is similar and the same is some places, the overall desolate structure to the market place is also strikingly the same.

Eitherways, it's opinionated, the first thing that struck me when I saw the images, was Bladerunner.

Specially the Berlin image and the market scene.

I think the designers did a very good job of transferring the mood of the concepts into the ingame maps. The only thing that I noticed in the concepts that didn't transfer to the game was the washing hanging on the prefab buildings on Gibralter. That one detail tells you that the place is a refugee camp. I suppose they took that with them when they evacuated the city.

sometimes i feel like there should be things like civilians (just a few) and things like birds and other creatures to make it feel more real.

okay how about some polar bears, penguins, seals, etc.?

plus places like camp-G and suez doesn't really look that cold to me.

Deserts can get very cold at night, very very cold.

(Assuming that those maps were ... aimed to look like deserts.)

Very true. I live in the desert. The temperature can drop dramatically at night.

                            ^^lol

i think whats missing from 2142 is life the maps are nice but, nothings alive, trees dont sway in the wind and theres no signs of anyone ever being on these maps, it's asifthey just sprang into existance for the purposes of said battle...

i meen geez would it kill to put maybe an ocasional table with maybe a still warm cup of coffee abandoned in the madness, a couple of cool futuristic items (like in the trailer wtf happened to those cool hand held tv's / digital diaries) or perhaps some indoor environments like offices or a residential facility, 2142 has lots of buildings but you can't actually go in any of them ... how cool would it be to hide in one of those huge office blocks on Minsk, rain dripping off the window as a storm blusters outside ... watching through your high powered scope as a lonely soldier cut off from his team attempts to capture the silo below, as thunder strikes you take your shot and the sound of the crack masks your muzzle blast. The soldier is dead, but no one knows. (except for the guy who just got dropped by a lame camping n00b  )

all in all, as far as i can see 2142 is lacking in atmosphere... even bf2 had the occasional house you could go inside and a box of teddies!!!

they look awesome but they would have needed far better weather effects to replicate the look imo
