Jets, or no Jets

I like the jets. I think I'm pretty good in them (i have like 4.0kdr). I usually dominate until someone much better than me comes in, but I think I'm pretty good for pub servers. But I just enjoy flying them around, too. I also like their presence in the sky when I'm on the ground, regardless if it's a friendly jet, or enemy jet flying above me. It gives it a battlefield combat atmosphere. If removing jets on a server was possible, I'd never play on it.Comment

The F-35 is technically slower in the game. It also will out turn the J-10 if you fly it correctly. The J-10 doesnt decelerate as fast as the F-35 (assuming your not an idiot and throw it into reverse. You dont know how many ppl ive seen do this with planes and crash) Anyway because it doesnt decelerate as fast, the skilled F-35 pilot can reduce his speed faster and turn tighter than the J-10 (assuming that you arent one of those ppl who fly full thottle all of the time) Its all in the throttle management. In my opinion the "Fighter" class jets aren't as good as the other classes. (havent got to try the attackers yet now that i think of it, ill have to do that) I prefer taking ppl down in my F-15 anyday.Comment

lol
And just for the record, the J-10 does deccel faster. The ONLY thing the F-35B has against all other jets (which is stupid to use) dogfighting wise (lol) is the roll rates and the overall responsiveness.. and obviously it's top speed that dwarfs everything but the SU-30.
And I also like taking down people with the F-15, but it is literally statistically the worst jet in the game. Too many people judge the jets on "missle dodgability" tbh
But it sounds like you just bought BF2 by the way you are talking.Comment

F35B takes 5 seconds in order to even START slowing down, and an additional 5+ seconds to slow down to stall speed. I dont have the charts with me, but its the slowest jet to slow down. The only way you will be able to reduce the speed of slowing down, is by decreasing your throttle to 80%-85% and flying at slightly reduced speeds. And while it will give additional turn capability if youre fighting MiGs, its practically useless when going against J10s, which are fast and turn on a dime, as opposed to MiGs which are slow but turn great.
And since F35B, you cant be missed with missiles, and the rear nozzle gives away the deceleration, youre pretty much a turkey. 30 degree missile lock cone and 1 second lock time will make quick work of you.
You can maneuver your way against almost any jet bar J10 and Su-30MKK, but you will not stand a chance against those two. Except for stratoruns, which require 100% speed.Comment

If you slow down, your jet will actually loose manuevrability. Welcome to BF2 flight physics:dead:The F-35 is technically slower in the game. It also will out turn the J-10 if you fly it correctly. Define maneuverability. Last time you claimed BF2 flight physics worked directly the opposite from real world. In most aspects, it works just like in real world. Not in detail, but in concept.
If you slow down in RL, jets in fact do lose in maneuverability, just like in real life. While the turn radius decreases and jets pull a tighter turn (like in BF2), the roll rate for example, decreases. Just like in BF2. Alternatively, the faster the air passes the control surfaces, the faster the jet responds to controls, but with added speed, the turn diameter gets longer.
BF2 air aspect represents and extremely simplified picture of how things work in RL. Concepts and basics are similar.Comment

I wouldn't mind a no jets option. Jets require no skill and the entire air aspect of Battlefield needs to be reworked. If it's not fixed in Battlefield 3, I'll probably pass on that game as well if they ever make it. There needs to be a useful AA option. The only viable way to destroy a jet is with another jet, and if the other team steals all of your jets, well then you're screwed unless one of them really sucks. If you're lucky, you can take one out with AA, but that's only IF the map has an AA vehicle. The near instant reloading by simply flying over a runway or the 300 mile sniper accurate machine guns also make them extremely lame. Anyone who tries to defend those problems is an idiot. I wouldn't even complain about the bombers' payloads of death and lock on missiles if the above problems were addressed. I think jet spawn time should be increased, jets should have to at least land to reload, and AA should have a hell of a longer range with missiles that actually lock on. The AA in the game is laughable. TOW missiles are probably more useful for taking out jets. If these balance issues were worked out, hell I'd probably like seeing even more jets available at spawn points.
That's why people like Karkand. It's balanced and that makes it fun. A skilled team on either side can win the game and armor is extremely deadly but not so overpowering that a couple players with a brain can't take it out while a skilled tank driver will probably dominate.
As for infantry only, I think it's a complete waste of time, especially in BF2 since Battlefield 2's trademark is that you're fighting all out war on a battlefield with a variety of vehicles, and the infantry combat is the weakest part of the game. If I wanted to play infantry only, I'd play Counter-Strike or Call of Duty.Comment

After that sentence i stopped reading. A post with that in it cannot make any sense at all.I wouldn't mind a no jets option. You must be one of the idiots I mention then. Or you don't understand basic English since most paragraphs have a main idea, and the main idea of that paragraph was how jets take no skill followed by examples that prove my point. Just like the main idea for this paragraph is how you're an idiot. Stick with your delusions and think flying around and dropping bombs over and over takes skill with nothing to worry about except a good pilot ready for a dog fight. You probably think tanks take skill too. And you'd actually be right if you were comparing it to jets. At least tanks have multiple things that can easily kill them. Only thing that kills a jet pilot is himself or a better pilot.Originally posted by Axelfoley=NL=After that sentence i stopped reading. A post with that in it cannot make any sense at all.Comment

As a matter of fact there is nothing that proves flying jet's take no skill. And I'm not talking about dropping bombs over and over. If you think I'm a pilot like you describe in your post, then I invite you for a 1v1. You'll be surprised.Comment

AA turrets and vehicles are worthless, so jets have nothing to fear except other jets, therefore the entire act of flying over a runway reloading, dropping bombs, and repeating that over and over takes no skill. Anyone can do it. Good pilots, bad pilots, it doesn't matter. Dogfighting is the only thing that takes skill.
AA needs to be completely reworked. The range needs to be extended and there should be an alternate anti-tank class with portable anti-air missiles. Bad enough that missiles don't seek correctly even if flares aren't deployed and that it takes at least two missiles to destroy a jet. Not only that, but while you're waiting for a lock on, the jet can already see on its radar and either bomb you or mow you down with its sniper machine gun that has a longer range than radar and AA missiles apparently.Comment

Quite a contradiction you made there. Since both teams have jets, there will always be dogfighting. Except for when people are so busy spawnraping that they let the enemy take their jets or even their airstrip.AA turrets and vehicles are worthless, so jets have nothing to fear except other jets, therefore the entire act of flying over a runway reloading, dropping bombs, and repeating that over and over takes no skill. Btw. A jet needs to be shot down to be stealed by the enemy. I guess in that case the pilot that got shot down wasn't skilled enough?
It's a simple fact that flying a jet in an effective way takes skill. Every aspect of the game does.Comment
