Commander, lowest Rank in BF games

As I may or may not have stated earlier, I do agree on one thing regarding following commanders orders; and that is not following them if they are completely retarded or will not benefit the team. For example, the other day me and my friend were playing Conquest on Tunis Harbor, both of us sniper and early in the game the Commander kept telling us to take over points; about 10 minutes into the game I had to go VOIP and tell him that we were snipers (He could have easily told by looking at the symbols for squads, and our positions which suggested we were not Recon Lambert). From that point on he had us defending flags and holding key positions.
Which leads into another point, when as a commander do you (Anyone in general) even order squads to flanking positions? Or do you just say "Attack/Defend this"?Comment

ive tried a few times to get squads to move to specific locations and await further orders but to no avail. They mostly just accept the attack or defend commands but wont follow the move to this position command which is a shame

I only really give move orders if I see someone doing something that is either stupid or going to have them killed...or both.
For instance, most players have the necessary intelligence to not run blindy into the main entrance of a base when it's being defended by enemies. They'll often try and sneak around and flank by themselves. At least, the people capable of capping flags do.
However, when I know that there are 5 guys waiting around the corner they're about to try and flank from, I'll send out a "move here" order to a safer position whenever my mic craps out on me, or just tell them over VOIP.
Still, having UAV support over there is preferable.
Really the only reason why I would issue move orders is to get people out of harms way. Their way of assaulting a flag is up to them, so I don't give step by step orders how to approach one.

Good question.
I think it would be advantageous (if the squads followed orders) to do so. Get them, or at least one squad, to a position where they could take out an asset, a walker, a tank, etc......
If you can actually get a squad to a flanking position, I think you might have accomplished something as a commander

The 'move' versus 'attack/defend' command can be quite weird. I admit I'm hesitant to follow 'move', only cause I assume it's a newer SL who meant to issue an 'attack/defend' order. On the other hand, those who don't want to follow true 'move' orders are, to me, not really team players, just worried about their own scores. Points aren't the be all and end all of the game. Which is why 2142 tends to have major lack in defense. Who wants to sit at a CP/Silo for minutes on end, only to get 1 or 2 kills for the round? Even if it benefits your team and keeps your CP/Silo?

Winning the round benefits the commander, but not the people to much. That is an issue EA should have thought about, if they would have given people bonus x2 or whatever for winning a round w/ Commander then we would probably have much more results because it puts twice the amount of points at stake.
Desmond, the move order has only ever worked once more, on Camp G, where I ordered one squad to go to the tracks and hold position while the enemies on the UAV charged through to harbor. It worked beautifully and they didn't expect 5 people to flank them to their right and get totally owned. Their squad was the best squad at the end of the game and it was all because they followed orders to the exact spot and they stuck together, listened to their squad leader and made sure to kill in the spot I had sent them (Or their squad leader sent them)
A lot of times as Commander I will not throw orders at squads if they are together and have an objective already. But if I a squad is seperated and going after 5 different points at one time then I will make a small attempt to organize them and have them work out something together/ with my help. Though most of them stay disorganized because they have lone wolf attitudes, which doesn't benefit the team at all.
I don't mind lone wolves that are snipers or someone who backs up other squads whilst not in them. And as long as they don't die every 10 seconds.Comment

Personally I think a x2 bonus is a bit much for individual soldiers. But you're right, they deserve something. Even if it's just 2 or 3 points.Originally posted by OriJuiceWinning the round benefits the commander, but not the people to much. That sounds like an excellent strategy. That's why I think the 'Move' command is underutilised. And so is the 'Defend' command.Originally posted by OriJuiceDesmond, the move order has only ever worked once more, on Camp G, where I ordered one squad to go to the tracks and hold position while the enemies on the UAV charged through to harbor. The movement isn't used so much because many squad leaders or individuals lack the ability to comprehend what the Commander may see on a global scale. If you don't trust the commander then do not be in a squad, the Commander is meant to be the eyes and ears; thus you should trust his/her judgment on the matter.
Also, the move order is EXTREMELY vague. Even I don't use it often because I have an aforementioned knowledge that tells me "Hey, nobody is gunna listen to that **** cause they don't know WHY I am issuing it"
Half the time people don't even listen to voiP...Comment

When I command, I command. That's means NO FLYING, NO FIGHTING! If, for any reason, I have to fight or defend then someone isn't doing their job. Most often, squads don't follow orders. As commander, spot out the enemy for your troops and direct the closest squad. What is frustrating most happens when everyone is defending the titan and won't capture and/or defend the silos the squads are assigned to. If you can hold the silos you will more often win the game.Comment
