One that doesn't fight. While doing all the things he's meant to be doing...

Supplying, uav's, orbital strikes on walkers and giving orders... And also the main thing, spotting enemies!!! I hate commanders that dont spot!!

Protect your assets by dropping supply crates next to them. You should never have to leave to repair it. And one more thing, NEVER FIGHT OR FLY!!! That's what the soldiers are for. It is your job to command them, not fight along side them. There are exceptions, if you are defending your own titan until backup arrives and then let them hold the corridor.

It seems actual commanding is the number 1 priority.
OK, maybe, if each team has only 4 or 5 players per side, the Commander might have to get out there and fight. But when there's normal levels, say 10+ per side, the Commander needs to just command. In BF2 the Sat Scan seemed to be an invaluable asset. Now it seems to be a horribly underutilized asset.
And like others have said, spot!

dropping supply crates by your assets is wasteful. It also resupplies the enemy with more RDX! Use the supply crates to keep your team in the game or that by keeping that wlker full of health and armor while in the thick of battle. When playing commander you should be an engineer so you can repair your assets. Also good to defend your vehicles because when that recon is done blowing up your assets he is gonna steal your tank or whatever else is available. You can get plenty of kills just by hanging around the assets and playing defense as commander. This will ensure that you never have to use a supply drop to repair your assets and you keep your team in the game at the same time. :salute:

Move down with your squad but not totally in the battlefield..
Use the commander screen but not the one of CAPSLOCK. But your screen from T and just do this things.
-Go stand behind squadleaders, And if they do somewhere a recruest. Just aim on it (like a squadleader on the flag) and press accept(or deceline)
-In the t screen you can see al the squads, Dont give them orders one by one of the battle is on 1spot. Just scroll down there is a button you can give every squad at one time orders.

This is my Key 2 Succes, and you wont get bored with it because you dont fall asleep at the ground somewhere commanding..
You'R a active commander, and even usefull for stupid places too revive

One that recognises a good squad leader when he sees one. All it takes is one good commander and one good full squad in a game to cause a total wipeout. So spotting enemies/providing UAV's when my squad caps flags is a must, dropping supplies for our walker at convenient locations, and using his own initiative to use EMP and Orb's effectively (not ignoring the enemy walker that's rampaging around causing mayhem whilst orbitalling the single sniper that's missed every shot so far).

The single sniper who misses all the time is supposed to be killed with a SUPPLY CRATE, not an orbital!

But yeah, I stick with my previous belief on the perfect commander... One who leaves me alone and gives me crap when I ask for it.

But the fun is that, as a sniper, I've never been killed by a crate. Instead, I have more ammo and health, while the enemy team is crying for supplies, cause the Commander has dropped it all to me.
In other words........Commanders who try to kill individuals with Supply Crates are complete idiots.

first off i absoulutely hate fighting commanders. They are called commanders for a reason. If you want to fight dont command and help the team as med or support.

                          a true commander will conceal himself and do the following;

                          1. give squads orders to cap flags and to attack specific points on the map

                          2. inform squads when supplies, orbital strike and uav are available for usage

                          3. use comms(voip) to keep the squads on their toes of enemy threats and positions

                          4. spotting. very important for the team providing players can use their minimap (some players seem to find using it hard to grasp. god knows why)

if the commander can achieve the following then the chances are your onto a win.

1- Finding a good spot to hide, and STAYING there.

2-Always staying in the command screen paying close attention, your teams needs you.

3-Watching the text, yeah commanders rarely look at that.

4- Only spotting important/threatening enemies near somebody when the UAV is gone/somewhere else.

                            5-Giving supplies to vehicle crews.

6-Spotting large threats always, for gunship crews, like other gunships too.

7-Giving orders, suggestions, tips, ect to squad leaders to help their squad the most possible.
