nobody cares or appreciates commanders anyways. i've come to the conclusion that it's a good way to get pts. while being afk. i usually sign up to be a commander, and then go do something else like take shower or eat a meal, and like an hour later come back to my PC and i have a shiny gold medal.
What do consider to be a good commander?

hey bob played against you and a few of your clan monkeys on your server last night. Please accept my apologies for my arrogance i was stressing out as my team were giving you lot grief on voip and wern't following orders!!!Originally posted by Bobslovskilol nice stat padding there, i never go afk commander, usually the best thing to do is not give your squads orders just tell them where the bad guys are, with spotting, uavs, and concentrate your orbs on armour not infantry .
all i can say is our team got handed on a plate:laugh:
and cheeky mr monkeynreadman got my tags with 2 tickets left!!!!

dont give orders as commander. its really annoying.
Put UAVs in intelligent spots at the right time. Strategically drop supply boxes. Get rid of walkers. Spot people. Dont give orders.Comment

These are the commanders we boot as we need supply drops and UAV's I could see getting up for a minute but to just tale off and let the game run, this is an example of a lousy commander.Originally posted by Minmasternobody cares or appreciates commanders anyways. i've come to the conclusion that it's a good way to get pts. while being afk. i usually sign up to be a commander, and then go do something else like take shower or eat a meal, and like an hour later come back to my PC and i have a shiny gold medal.Comment

So the one person who can see the entire battlefield at any given time, should not give orders....?!?Originally posted by Fielddont give orders as commander. its really annoying.

Put UAVs in intelligent spots at the right time...if squads and individuals are lonewolfing it there's no such thing
Strategically drop supply boxes...^see above^
Get rid of walkers.....NO, that's your job, not mine. I spot em, you kill em.
Spot people... Again, where? If you're all over the map, where do I spot? Oh, I got it, nowhere,

Strategically drop supply boxes... These are harder to place, because they really aren't that useful. Give them to your friendly walker.
Get rid of walkers... FALSE. The commander DEFINATELY should be taking out the enemy walker. EMP+Orbital and you have saved your team alot of time and tickets.
Spot people... Spot people who got behind you and are capping your back flags.
Your style of commanding is the reason I hate commanders.Comment

Incorrect, SAT Track should be used in place of UAV's. Use UAV's for squads that need them. Sat Track is commander view only, which is completely fine for Orbitals. No need for UAV before or after.Put UAVs in places AFTER you orbital them, not before. Put them in places where there are lots of enemies, and lots of friendlies. If your walker needs a supply box, the person piloting it should GTFO and start fighting cause they are obviously not good in a walker. Engineers should use walkers, strictly.Strategically drop supply boxes... These are harder to place, because they really aren't that useful. Give them to your friendly walker.
Actually, it should be the teams issue first and foremost. I would only use EMP/Orbital if I knew nobody was smart enough to kill the thing. Walkers are one of the easiest vehicles to kill in the game, Using EMP I agree with, the Orbital is un needed and should be saved for enemy inf tho.Get rid of walkers... FALSE. The commander DEFINATELY should be taking out the enemy walker. EMP+Orbital and you have saved your team alot of time and tickets.
Spot those people with Sat Track and not UAV's, as I said before. UAV's are reserved for people in squads that work together.Spot people... Spot people who got behind you and are capping your back flags.
Your reasoning is why I hate most people who play BF2142 for to long on end.
For the most part I agree with Desmond. The Commander is eyes and ears; they are large scale support that benefits the players who follow orders. I will not accommodate lone wolves as a Commander because they drain the other squads, no matter how good they are *Cough*Fin*Cough*. I will not give one person a UAV or a supply drop, they are my ***** and not the other way around; let there be no misconceptions.
Just being realistic, lone wolfing gets you no support from Commanders that you "Hate"Comment

First off, you COMPLETELY missed the point of what I said about UAVs. When I said use them AFTER an orbital, I meant use them after an orbital cause Orbitals Shoot down your own UAVs really easily. Next off, you are saying that a UAV should be in reserve... Not true. UAVs should be strategically placed where most needed. More often then not, "needed" is where the action is.
WTF are you talking about? Talk to Skates. Hes an expert Walker-Whore. I am a good Walker Whore. No matter what you do, your walker WILL get hit eventually. Whether the enemy commander scrapes you with an orbital, or if a bunch of Engineers start shooting at you, there is no way to get out of a battle without a scratch. Start stacking up battles and you will die. A supply crate will keep a walker going. Even in professional play (aka Clan Wars) the Supply Crates primary mission is to keep your vehicles properly repaired.
The point in an orbital strike is primarily to distract, confuse and scatter the enemy. Taking out the enemy walker early on is an excellent way to do that.
Next off, who said that you should use a UAV to spot someone who is back capping? I was talking about SAT Tracking and right-click spotting
It seems like you people are under the FALSE assumption that I lone wolf... I DON'T. If I am in conquest (which is where the commander really matters), I am playing SQUAD LEADER. Normally with a full squad too. I find it INSULTING that you say I lone wolf and then have the nerve to get onto these forums and smack talk. Ask anyone from TBF2142 who has played with me. Do I lone wolf? Am I a bad team player? For the most part I agree with Desmond. The Commander is eyes and ears; they are large scale support that benefits the players who follow orders. I play to win, and I win alot. I don't play to be the commanders Biotch. The commander position exists to support your troops, not the other way around. Don't you ever forget it.
The reason I hate moronic commanders is because they don't do their jobs. If your UAV is fully charged for more than 30 seconds, you aren't doing your job. If that enemy walker has been holding still and your EMP and Orbital are ready, you aren't doing your job. If the enemy has gotten behind us and your not telling us, you aren't doing your job.Comment

OK, this whole discussion has gotten heated. Everyone take a breath........
I'm not implying that you, Fin, are a lone wolfer. I'm just talking about disorganized squads. If I'm commander and see that flag 3 or silo 2 is unguarded, and there's a SL nearby, I might issue the attack here command. The SL will confirm. But if I see the squad members spread out in different directions, I'll be a little leery about that squad. And if the same thing happens multiple times in a round, that squad is not going to get my assets.
If I issue tactically correct orders, and the squad follows them and is successful, they are more likely to get my assets.
I do use the Sat-Scan to spot wandering enemies. But if someone got behind our lines, and there's no squads to defend, is it worth spotting? I may spot, but if no one comes to defend, then why bother?
PSS....as much as I'm on your side Ori.... I agree with Fin on the supply drops. Giving them to the walker (on maps were walkers are limited) is a good thing. Yeah, on maps were each team has 3 walkers per side, that's a waste of an asset. But if each side only has one it can help save that asset.Comment

if you deny an order and not issue one on your own, i wouldn't give you supplies either. for the sake of the squad, you really should have an objective, whether or not everyone follows it.
there are a lot of idiot squad leaders who have full squads and don't bother issuing orders or accepting one from commander. i have no problem if the leader is on top of things and issuing orders himself, but to not have one and constantly ignore the ones suggested by the commander is dumb and ignorant. they are doing their squad mates disservice, and a lot of the times the squad members have the sense to leave the squad to find another one.
on the other hand, the most annoying commanders and squad leaders are the noobs who don't know how to issue an attack/defend order and constantly issue move orders. ugh...Comment

only problem is that this commander had no idea what he was doing, i do know how annoying SL can be some times, i did actually talk to him about the idea of where we need to go.if you deny an order and not issue one on your own, i wouldn't give you supplies either. for the sake of the squad, you really should have an objective, whether or not everyone follows it.

First off, you personally might not have been attacking me but Ori was very explicit in mentioning me.Originally posted by DesmondLockeOK, this whole discussion has gotten heated. Everyone take a breath........

I still have no clue where he got the impression that I was a lone wolf. And I find that offensive. If he had bothered to look at my stats, he would have seen my playing style. But wait, I forgot, you people believe stats are of the devil! Oh well, here they are:Originally posted by OriJuiceI will not accommodate lone wolves as a Commander because they drain the other squads, no matter how good they are *Cough*Fin*Cough*. Total played time: 316:00:21
Squad-Member: 103:13:59
Squad-Leader: 140:56:11
LoneWolf: 35:43:07
Anyway, back on topic.
If you are issuing an order that is relevant to what I am doing, I have no problems... For instance, if the enemy starts capping Toll Station and my squad starts to move at it but don't have time to update the orders, I welcome a commander request. However if the enemy starts capturing Central Camp and it is clear that me and my sqood are still clearing out EU Base you, as the commander, can go to hell.Originally posted by DesmondLockeI'm just talking about disorganized squads. However whether or not a Squad Leader accepts your orders should NEVER influence if you are going to use your assets or if you aren't. You should ALWAYS use your assets where they are needed most. If you deny a supply drop out of pure spite, you deserve to be removed from office.
The reason I hate commanders so much is because 9/10 of them are idiotic morons. 9/10 of those 9/10 just go AFK instead of actually playing, or they fight and never give a second thought to the assets.
If I come across the rare 1/10 who actually does his job properly, I have no problem with accepting TACTICALLY CORRECT orders.Comment
