I don't want to rub it in any more than I already have, but I did try to teach people "on the job": even with the most eager learner, it doesn't work. You need repeated practice and experience to know how and why to perform certain actions... you can't just tell someone "ok, this is how you slide/drop/dodge... now let's go fight these two obviously competent helis!"

its cos they wanna seat switch at altitude and use the guncam themselves.

you can see at a distance their heli is pointing at you but then starts to yaw right, thats a classic sign they have jumped into the gunner seat and theres a missile on the way.

No, I happily take in competent gunners and pilots. The key word is competent.

Some people may do the abovementioned (soloing at altitude, taking shots at unsuspecting people below... aka "nub soloing"), but most of us don't mind able company.

        That's another myth.

I really don't understand why so much emphasis is put on the tv missile. I got used to flying on dragon in a server that doesn't allow seat switching. I fly solo, without the damned tv, and I can take on most competent chopper pilots/guners. It's surprisingly easy to avoid those missiles if you know about how long it takes for them to recharge. I see people doing this rediculous barrel roll... sure it works, put it tends to put the other chopper at an advantageous altitude. Tv's just spoil the fun of choppers imo. It doesn't take half as much skill as killing a chopper from the pilot seat.

its not a myth it happens.
on a typical dragon valley round im either shot, told to get out and flown to edge of map if i dont so i die, or if they are really nice they will just crash the heli and save time cos i never get out.

No, the proposition that a majority of soloers do everything in their power to fly alone, and do so in the manner described above, is pure myth: only a tiny percentage of the soloing population does this...

I does happen, but what you're doing is pigeonholing everyone when only 10% (perhaps less) engage in the kind of behavior so often and unfairly attributed to us. The reality is, heli teams are just as guilty and justify it by saying they want to fly with a specific teammate.

Again, most of us are quite content with a competent pilot or gunner. But many won't tolerate incompetence after being made aware of it...

Say that after playing Cynic, Spara, Pred or any other competent soloer. Your tune will change pretty quickly: emphasis is placed on the TV missile because once it becomes an extension of your body, in a manner of speaking, you can combine it with flying techniques that make you nearly impervious to attacks from anyone, often excluding but sometimes including jets.

Once you've spotted us, you won't get 50 yards in before being taken down. This isn't an attack on your ability, either: even I find it's a risky proposition to go up against another soloer or chopper team without TV missiles. Attempting to get in range to use unguided rockets against an intelligent team using ranging and TV missiles is often a futile endeavor.

What you're describing is an endless series of (hopefully) successful dodges in order to get within range to use rockets: the reality is, any good soloer or team will keep you out of attack range... and odds are they'll take you down well before you can pose a threat.

Rocket-only fights had their place in the BF2 Demo and early patch days... but with the release of videos from Redux and other pioneers, those techniques are antiquated.

How could I forget? I come on to play the game to teach and educate, this is my sole purpose in BF2. Nothing else matters, not fun or enjoyment, it is up to me to personally tutor and cajole incompetent players until they're up to scratch.

OMG why r u being so nieve? i never said u had to "tutor" them did I ? NO

i just said there ARE players who may not be quite as good as you.. and u have to account for that. YES it does suck when they do stupid things and bring the team down and YES it does suck when u have just found a prime sniper spot and they STAND next to u firing wildly with a full automatic rifle....BUT thats the game...they come online to have fun and although they might not be as good as some of the others they still have the right to play and be dealt respect...

Im not talking about the people who come on and team kill and spam and wahatever else... their just idiots that have nothing better to do... im talking about the people like this thread starter who actually want to learn to play but just need a bit of common courtesy and respect along the way... this doesnt mean u have to "tutor" them, it just mean if u are getting that emotionaly cut about it move on! go play on a clan server... they shouldnt be banished from online play or certain aspects of the game just because they need a bit of play time to understand how it all works....

Not directly, but what you did say was this:

Which clearly indicates you want the higher-skilled players of BF2 sit around repeatedly dying and engaging in other miscellaneous misfortunes, just so that new players can learn how to actually play. Not going to happen, I'd rather watch paint dry.

Funny, i have not been on these forums for over a year and yet Sloi is still going on about he's the greatest thing since sliced bread and if he does not solo the chopper the world will end. get over yourself! It's a game.
