After finally buying Orange Box about a month ago; I was about to play HL2 today, but I having never played a HL game was thinking that it might be better to start off playing the prequel.
So, do you think it would be better to play through HL1 first then start on HL2?

I would say the original, the source version isn't that different and I would only get it if you cared about the 'ragdoll' effect as it is one of the only notable differences but there are a few more.
Also you can get the Half-Life 1 Antology which includes Half-Life, Half-Life: Blue Shift, Opposing Force and Team Fortress Classic for only $15.
I'd say get it. I might think about it as well. Seeing I was like 11 or 12 when I played HL1 I never got past Blast pit with that huge thing with the giant claws. I remember something about electricity and water and me moving boxes then getting stuck for ever! haha.
It would be nice to go back and play it again, or have a day or two where you play all of them, oldest to newest to really get the story, that would be cool to do with some friends. I love the Half life story though, it's so good.

I'm guessing 5 weeks after the original post he's already made up his mind.
