    Just One More. Sigh.

So I've finally, finally gotten every single award... except one. I need the Gold Air Defense, and I'll finally be done.

But I honestly think this is the hardest award on the face of the planet. Sure, knifing was quite difficult for me. However, I felt that at some point, you could get good enough where 17 kills in a round was pretty easy. That one requires skill.

The Gold Titan Destruction was pretty difficult, but with a good squad, it was very doable. You had some degree of control.

The Gold Air Defense badge is just ridiculous. 30 kills with an anti-air turret. -_- So far, the best strategy I've managed to do yielded me 15 kills (and subsequently I got kicked from the server... not really sure why). This involved:

    1) using the walker anti-air to take out any infantry I encounter
    2) shooting missiles with the walker main cannon and switching to the anti-air right before the kill

I have yet to get consistently above even 10 kills (I can tell by the Clear Skies pin). I'm so close, and my OCD isn't going to let this rest. On the other hand, aaah. I'm out of ideas.

I had the same difficulty with this pin - it is one of the hardest to get.

I believe the problem is using the switching position bug to get your quota. For instance if you sit in an air turret and then mine around it, and whilst your in your turret someone trips a mine it is reported as a turret kill. However I don't believe that this is added to your true turret kill tally and thus you are not awarded a badge based upon it.

I could be wrong - I'm sure Fingulfin will be along soon to let us all know!

        Hmm... Well
        1) it's quite difficult to get 30 kills in a round with orbital strikes
        2) I thought this was the case, too, but normally, when you sit in an AA turret and someone sets off a mine, it'll report the kill as having come from the Rorsch. This is not the case with orbital strikes, which leads me to believe it doesn't actually count that way

As for the not counting thing, I definitely feel like I got my Clear Skies pin a couple times from a combination of actual AA turret kills and APMs that were set off while seated inside. I've tried the mining strategy, but I just haven't found the right conditions where I'm getting enough kills. Originally, I used APMs on the Titan. However, in rounds where you actually get a lot of kills that way, there is not enough time to get from a good APM spot back into the AA gun position. Sigh. It's hard enough getting 30 kills with effective forms of killing. This badge is going to haunt me for the rest of my life. -_-

That's different. Kills for kits are counted as long as you are using that kit. Orbital strikes are still kills, so they count.

However, for vehicle kills, there are inconsistent rules for how things count. Now that I think about it, I'm positive that mines do count towards the tally for the badge. However, even with a combination of mines and seat switching...

Hmm... Interesting. I will give it a shot.

One thing is that while I was getting the hours for this badge, I always commanded from AA turrets. I'm sure I've had rounds where I've killed at least 10 people with orbital strikes, yet I didn't get the Clear Skies pin. =\ Weird.

I know on 2142 if your commander in a rorsch your kills register as a rorsch kill, so should be the same with AA.

Here to save the day

Your right. If you are in an AA Turret, and someone dies from one of your mines (APM or Motion Mine) it counts as an AA Kill. I like to put APMs at the top of the Titan Vents and then dash back to the Hangar bay and sit in the Titan AAs... Easy AA Kills.

Actually, it doesn't :|: Weird huh? I tried this for my AA Ribbon with my first profile, and couldn't get it...

Now for the easiest way to get it... Titan Server with Titan Movement enabled. Hop into the F3 Titan Gun (the front one). If you see some guys, fire and then QUICKLY hit F7. If the titan gun shots kill the guy(s) while you are in the F6 or F7 position, viola, AA Kills.

                    Good Luck soldier :salute:

I once devoted a weekend to getting my air defense ribbon. I had lots of rounds on Minsk conquest where I felt I had gotten the 15 kills needed for it. Getting riled, I made a note of all kills achieved that were displayed as aa kills. These included me blasting troops that came up onto the defensive tower out of PAC base. People setting off my motion mines as they went past. Taking out gunships as they flew overhead.

I counted 24 kills but still no ribbon. Bah - I stopped trying after that.

This is actually a lot harder than it sounds because in a round where you can get 30 kills from the Titan guns, other people are most definitely going to want to join in on the fun. As soon as you switch to F7, people are going to hop into the other gun. =[

Oh wells. I guess I was looking for someone to come save the day. I'll just keep trying.

Btw, what's the final word on the orbital strikes? Do they count for the AA badge or not? I'm learning towards no...

I did the Walker on Camp G thing, except I just seat switched. =[ Got 27 and 25 on two separate occasions, and a couple of 15s and above. Sigh.

                              Update:

Got it. =] Took like 6 hours of running around switching seats with the walker on Camp Gibralter, but it's finally over. 100% awards completion...

Perhaps now that my OCD will let me rest, I can actually do something productive. Hopefully BF3 never comes out.
