I have t agree with corkum, I like big maps and vehicles. When I first started playing cod4 mp I hated it,but now i'm starting to like it,totally different from bf2.So I switch back and forth from bf2 mods to cod4,so I suggest giving it a little time U might get used to the fast pace, and start to enjoy it.

COD4 MP is amazing, fair enough it does lack the variety of BF, but its infantry orientated game play and the excellent weapons make it a must have for anyone who enjoys infantry battles.

If you dont like the close quarters i recommend going to BF2 and just playing that

it is all up to what you find fun really

          Cheers

Ok, well after playing the game some more, I still say it needs alot of work.
I think higher streaks are needed for assests to be used. The use of rotating spawns needs to be tweaked, you can never really stand your ground in this game. Afew maps are just that a complete spam fest of nades in a square.

Open up the maps more, I mean more players, larger area for more players.
Just a nade spam fest in most any servers. The use of helis and arty is overrated in this game. It should be based more on your CQB skills, than AI.

If they just opened up the maps alot more, it would make game play alot more enjoyable IMO.

Personally think the guy has some good points - the SP is very good, and the MP does need some work

Been playing custom maps mostlly latelly on an 18 player server running different gametypes - totally different to playing the stock maps. Team work can be seen, lack of nade spamming, some of the maps the heli doesnt work which is a joy, and due to the smaller player count a lot less likellyhood of being nuked by an airstrike.

Played the custom maps exclusivelly for about 4 days then returned to a stock game of MP on 32 player crossfire. First 2 minutes I'm 0 kills for 6 deaths - 2 deaths via heli, 2 by airstrike one by nade and 1 by gun!!!!!! I then changed kit to my stealth MP5 and spawned in the middle of the other team... whooppeedo!!! 2 knifes and a sweet nade into a sniper nest at back of map taking 4 guys down, followed by airstrike / heli / airstrike (and a heli I couldnt get rid of by endgame) I ended up 24 kills for 10 deaths.

As I say the guy has points, Cod4 would have been better with a squad system, ranked servers without heli and airstrike to encourage players to play em, and bigger maps to prevent or discourage nade spamming.

But hey theres a solution, ranked up to 55 yet?? Come join the Custom maps, get some of the fun back and enjoy shooting peeps for ur score and landing aimed nades on them, far more enjoyable

i guess this is a hate it or love it game and atm i'm ****ing hating it(MP wise). pubs are full of ppl who just sit around a corner and wait for u to come around it and the rest nade spam the smaller maps and sprint into a grp and die purposely to get they're martyrdom off. its almost pointless to move without a uav up. the graphics are beautiful though. i'm running it on a new pretty nice setup on vista and i'm impressed at how insanely nice the gfx are. and scrims/matches are the same, its a game of hide and go seek and its just not my thing. every server/scrim seems to be one dimensial, play hide and go seek and wait for the other guy to get impatient and run around the corner so you can shoot him.

almost all of em are. the only people that dont camp the corners waiting for ppl to run by them are the ones that the campers get all theyre kills off of. either camp a spot or die.

I find grenades useless in this game for the most part. I dont see any "nade fest" rounds really.

The MP doesnt suck, its just vastly different than other games, thats all. As many others have said, you dont have to play it.

I would really like to know what game types you have played to form such a strong opinion.

The perks, and customization has far surpassed any games attempt at it so far, so many different combinations its insane. You can be a big heavy loud assaulter, or a silent, invisible infiltrator.

Free For All game mode is a bit crazy, Shipment, and Wetwork are not really fitting for that gametype, and requires a certain mood to play. I see how you could build a small amount of stress there if you arent used to dying. But the more you play the better you become, or not.......

Yes its an online shooter. But what is the point of playing? Are you supposed to run around and die as much as you possibly can? Or should you stand your ground and try to kill as many enemies as possible? EVERYDAY that i play there is some crybaby tagging "CAMPER, YOU FVCKING CAMPER!" What do they do in war? Do they run around like a$$holes guns a blazing, not watching their 6? Obviously not. You are sleek, quiet, cautious as all hell, and yes, pick a spot to hang until things are quiet and move on.

Sure there are people that spawn and dont move, but those guys are the ones that are your free kills. I always check the spawn locations as there is almost surely some dork sitting there waiting for someone to troll by. Their "bad", your gain. I am so SICK of hearing about camping, its so ridiculous. Rambo is a loser, he wouldnt last a damned second on the BF, Commando either.:dead::dead::dead::dead::dead::dead::salute :

thats what makes it boring, you have no option but to camp a spot all ****ing game until u die in which u go camp another corner. how can ppl like u not get bored of doing the same **** over? picking a spot and staying there then finding a new one. its gay. i dont care about real life situations compared to a game, cause...its a game which is meant to be fun and for me, camping corners aint fun.

You dont have to camp, just dont go running around like a kid in a toy store. Its about cover in this game. If you run up the road, you die. If you are not good at using cover, you camp. There is a good balance to enjoy the game and not be killed a lot.

What about playing games that have objectives? Yes, people camp the objective spots, but you know that, right? So what are you going to do about that?

Use your heads people. You KNOW someone is there. Smoke em out. Flash em out, Nade em out, C4 them out, RPG them out, Martyrdom them out. HECK, put on last stand and when they kill you, shoot them in the face with a pistol. Harass them until they stop camping or they leave the server.

I have a clan mate that is into camping right now. He doesnt want to wreck is precious K/D ratio and he will let others die before he shows his head. I KNOW THAT! What do I do? When I see the others, I let them go by and stay low, then I search him out and kill him. It doesnt work every time, but sooner or later, he stops camping and starts having fun.

I swear, its all about winning for him, youd think he would relise its just a game.

I don't camp at all, so I'm just not getting thecolorpink's point. I'm also not afraid of 'dying' in a game either. So, I'll die a lot sometimes if I'm after a goal.

I have to admit that I do look at the scoreboard, but I don't let it run my game play. I've been really 'serious' about playing before and it was just silly in hind-sight. I play to have fun now.

I suggest that folks are attempting to play a server with too many people squeezed in. Try to join on servers with only half the max population -- it will be a completely different experience.

AMEN :salute: Thats it right there. The game has small maps and thats an excellent point you bring up. Maybe the servers are just too crowded. Go on some smaller ones. I tend to stick to 24 or less and I have a great time. (Though the other day I was on a 32 FFA, MAN, that was crazy fun).

Anyway, if youre not having fun, figure out why. As my pappy used to say, "When you point a finger at someone, you got three pointing back at you. Unless you have some disability or mutation."

Ok, he didnt say that last part, but I can hear the gripes now

I agree with him. Multiplayer could've been done a lot better. Doesn't even have to be big and epic like BF2. The whole ranking and unlock system is kind of pointless, and it's frustrating when you can't use the same attachment combinations as in the single-player. Multiplayer isn't bad, but definitely overrated.
