Ya, Computers were pretty expensive. My old Dell that my dad bought in about 1996 cost us about $3000 and has a 4.15GB hard-drive, and almost no moving parts on the mobo, graphics, or proc, and it was quiet. Now computers are pretty damn loud especially my new computer that has a huge Cooling fan inside. I started out playing mostly Tycoon games, but I found it really hard. Then I moved to the Racing genre and wents nuts with that for a while. Then I moved to the FPS games. Which leads me to a new question...

I started out with the IBM 8086: it was equipped with a 5.25in Floppy drive, and I must've played the coolest games ever on it.

That got me in FPS and then Duke Nukem kept me there. Quake was cool. Quake2 was alright. Quake 3 was too much. I didnt bother with Quake 4.

Doom, Command and Conquer, and Warcraft 2 brought me into gaming and started it all. Though I like the RTS, the FPS is what drew me online.

I started on consoles though and they were fun, but I loved PC games more.

First PC was an AMD 486 4x120 with 32MB RAM and I had a 500MB harddrive, 4x CDrom, 28.8 EXTERNAL modem and 15 inch screen

i originated on console, Crash bandicoot FTW. but what got me into pc gaming was age of empire, that led to age of empires 2, which led to a load of RTS, but what got me into FPS, was timesplitters for the Playstation 2, then i got half life 2, and CS:S, then cod2, then finally cod4 :yay:.

Duck Hunt on the console.

The very first games I played were on nes- Balloon Fight, Mario, Duch Hunt. Never got a snes, ps1 or any other console.
Then I got to try a few PC games like Lotus, Stunts (awesome ****ing game that was) Prehistoric 2, doom, and I`ve never looked back towards a console since.

What turned me away from consoles was;

1. The games never went down in price
2. They kept coming out with them and you couldnt play your old games.

I had the atari, NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, the 32 bit upgrade for Sega, 3DO (Sony buys them out and comes out with Playstation).

When I played PC games and upgraded my PC, I could still play the games :yay: If a game that I thought was OK, but not great came out, I would wait about 6 months and get it for $30, instead of the $50 it started out at.

I first played Putt Putt on the computer and Busytown on the Sega Genesis. And when I was around seven I went to a neighbor's house and started playing Goldeneye 007. Since then I haven't been able to stop playing FPSs and nor do I want to.

Edit: I also remember playing Roller Coaster Tycoon, The Sims, and Need for Speed 3 on the computer.

No, it was an RTS with seven.. kingdoms. Like Age of Empires, but more focused around economics and trade rather than building an army of club men and walking around the map.
